Ah, she's gone. To an Audi driving Retro Rider from oop north. Gutted I never got her up and running but can't wait to see her on the road! (Well, I can actually, no rush, it's your car now!)

Ahh- I'm not sure how I missed this one the first time round? All it needs are a pair of wing mounted union jacks fluttering in the breeze, or maybe hammer and sickle for the red commie links of the 70s!

YO! I picked up this car last night, lovely job. It is now safely ensconced in my works car park! They won't mind. I will get on it next week. Plan is: service, MOT, jolly old shine-up, razz round in it a bit, then move it on via the bay so I can crack on with another brown W-reg project.

This car is getting MOT'd today!!! wish it luck!
I was so impressed with it, I boshed it in for a test without even putting a spanner on it. I found a little bit of welding to do on one wheelarch, not much else though that I could see. Fingaz X'd!!!!

ah well it failed, unsurprisingly. not on owt of any great difficulty though (i think). The most pressing thing is 'inner tie rod ball joint' or something like that. Now then I know its easy to fix an outer track rod end, but an inner? Thats a new rack is it not?

Keep it brown. Nice nick - I'd be tempted to convert a base model 2 door into a 2 door VP. Saying that, who are the RCC> That orange 2 door on the rolling road looks cool. I took me bloody ages to find my 2 door series 2.......

Its running bloody great now. I fitted a new silencer on the back last night to replace the 'straight through system', now it sounds liike a VP agg really should do, nice and quiet and smooth.
The full MOT list was:
one rear wheel brg noisy
bit of welding on one corner of the OS front footwell
this 'inner track rod balljoint' thing
indicator flashing speed all to pot.
I've got 2 weeks to get it sorted otherwise i'll have to pay £35 for another MOT!
PLease let us know what the crack is with that V5! I need to get something sorted for it soon, even if it means forking out £20 for a new one!

YO! I've been busy in the garage with this car this week, here are a few token workshop pics. As you know I took it for a test which it failed, no big problem though really.  Installed in the garage. The first thign I did was chop off the 'straight through' rear pipe and weld on a new back box which I had procured from the Tatton Park show for a tenner. That restored the proper engine sound off the agg and immediately made the car seem 100 times more feasible. Most encouraging. Next I tackled the hole in the footwell:    That did not take too long and I painted it with zinc primer and underseal.  Next I stripped, cleaned and reassembled the front calipers, no pics of that though as I was on a bit of a mission with that and forgot to take any. Oh and I boshed in a new rear wheel brg. Next I whipped out the steering rack:  That took all of about 25 mins to remove! I could not get one of the track rod ends off however; I ended up welding a nut to the side of the track rod (to stop it turning in the vice) then winding the TRE off with a plumbers wrench. I got it in the end. I picked up an exchage rack yesterday (£22!!) and will be boshing that on, Monday night. Finally the flasher unit needs replacing, I have ordered one of those off the bay, as soon as that arrives we should be MOT-able. After that it will be a polishing mop-fest and await the logbook, when that arrives it will be going up for sale. NEXT! Next car in the bo11ox workshop of powAr will be the Integra HIGH POWER SYSTEM, bring it on! |

This mofo faied its RE-TEST yesterday! Most embarrassing and annoying, bet I am gonna cop another £35 MOT fee now. Plus it seems I need a new brake drum as the old one is worn where the bearing is pressed in, resulting in excessive play at the wheel rim. See you later £26.

This car failed its retest the other day cos the front brakes were sticking on. Annoying as I had already stripped and cleaned the front calipers. Anyway I towed it home and decided to fit some new pads. I popped the hubcap off and:  Fookin ell how hot did that get! Good job it didnt all set on fire. Problem turned out to be both front brake hoses blocked  cost a rather hefty £20 from milfield for a pair of new ones. Anyway with them on and a new drum on the back, this car is now equipped with an MOT certificate lasting for a FULL TWELVE MONTHZ0RZ111!!!!!11!! Just a wizz over with the polishing mop and we're done. Anyone fancy buying it? Runs bloody great.  |
