well, its finally time to show the ghia some love. Ive not driven it for a while due to being out of mot. Once MOT'd it will get turbo'd. All the stuff is sitting there ready for the turbo conversion. Anyhow, MOT first which means a new front beam and some rot issues sorted. The car  The rot    beam out  Nice wiring hey ;D I'm sure they come from the factory like this, all vw's look like it.  rot cut out    new beam awaiting fitment  It needed a ball joint, so matt took the old one out. But being mat he couldnt help himself and painted the trailing arm. At least one will look nice.  So, todays mission is welding, undersealing and beam refitment. Then just a few minor bits n bobs and hopefully it will be MOT worthy. Then the fun can start. Its already got a GT box and a kennedy clutch and a completely renewed rear end, so once the front ends done she'll be good for years. |

Its a srock 1600 thats getting turbo'd.
All welded today but no pics, just needs a little grinding here and ther, seam sealing and painting then the beam goes back in (all nicely built by mat ;D)

well, this morning i dressed the welds a little, seam sealed, primed, stonechipped and undersealed. It aint going to rust again!   The paint in the boot and on the outer wing is just a bit of temporary protection. It will get painted properly one day, maybe summer.   I also got the new beam in and all built up and fixed the horn. So, tomorrow its fit the new shocks and bumper mounts, put the tank in and replace the heat exchangers. Then it can be MOT'd and as soon as its passed its turbo time ;D |

No real update in afraid, took me all day yesterday to fit the shocks, set the right height and swap the heat exchangers. At leaste its got working heating now ;D Just need to weld on the bumper mounts, refit the tank and bodge up some door cards and I can MOT it!! Anyhow, this is the only pic, taken as I was leaving as I thought it looked cool.  |

Its a stock width beam, but the offset of the RO80 wheels make it look narrowed.
Its booked in for the MOT on tuesday, wish me luck ;D

I've got a stock beam on my Ghia with 4.5s on the front which tuck them in nicely too. Still think I'll go for a narrowed beam when I start the resto though. Seeing this is making me want to get out there and do something!

Quick update, although no work has been done.
Turbo gets sorted this weekend ;D
I'm super happy, my friends are bringing everything up from essex so we can get it sorted.
Expect lots of photo's, loads of swearing and hopefully a big smile and bald rear tyres ;D
