the 1.7 peugeot diesel engine never came intercooled. How ever the same engine did come intercooled in the old honda concerto shape Rover 200/400. You could get the 1769 in the 405 as an intercooled turbo before it was replaced with the 1.9 TD on a K or L reg. But I don't think it was ever intercooled in the 205 or 309 My old one Nice looking 309 you have there always fancied one. Would love a 309 Goodwood.

So in theory, if i could find an intercooled 405 in the scrappy, i could bosh (technical term) the intercooler setup onto mine? Coaxing a few more horses out of the engine without doing any internal work interests me greatly...

You might struggle with the 405 one though as it sits on top of the engine so either you would have clearance issues with the bonnet or you wouldnt be able to get the air flow to it to make it effective. A front mounted one would be much better, 406`s are front mounted but not sure if there would be room to fit one in.

In the abscence of any current funds, i've been relegated to photoshop mods at the mo, but i thought i'd add them here, firstly so i don't forget them, but also because it looks quite cool. Cleaned, slammed(ish), with Schmidt Th-Lines..

Theres an old chap around my area who drives a 405 diesel. I always thought some boy racer had owned it before him and fitted a Subaru scoop, but its probably just an intercooled version

I'll admit the wheels are an aquired taste, but the cleaned aspect works well. I'd have to be dead committed to it tho, because of the lugs in the doors holding the trim on, and the paint on the doors is quite good still, and I don't want to spoil it with my sub-par spraying skillzors.
EDIT: P.S. Padz, where is your readers rides thread?!!!

Just a quick photo with the re-painted wheels put on, and also to mention that its probably going to be for sale soon, i fancy something non-diesel with a bit of zip.
