Right then, I've been doing a bit of moving round this morning, thanks to black8driver for the help. Thought I'd update the news on my Audis. First up is the 1976 80L. My favourite shape but in need of a little tlc body wise. Engine runs, just need to sort out the fueling. Once thats done I can make a start on modding it. 90,00 miles 2 owners, very original.  Next up is the 1977 GLS. This now runs and drives pretty well although the cooling system needs a work over. The body work on this is better and I prefer the colour, but the square headlights are not as cool as the rounds on the 76. 77,000 miles 2 owners, nice red interior!  Will get more photos when my batteries have charged!! |

great cars; but why does the red one have the US bumpers ? I know these bumpers only from the US spec Audi Fox.... i always loved them, and polardegos Audi just refreshed this love again ;D

MrJ, I wondered the very same. Its one of the very last of that shape, before the facelift and I reckon they were using up parts. Another late '76 one sold on ebay a few months back and that had the same bumpers on there too. Would like to get a set of the earlier ones really.

in the US they had the Audi Fox Wagon, which was a Passat Mk.I estate with Audi grille; they also had the US bumpers, and some of them were sold in the UK, too. The only european market, where they were sold, we didn't have them in germany... probably they put these bumpers on all the cars sold in the UK, to make them look the same? Don't want to hijack your thread, but here is the "Tale of the Fox" :  ;D ;D |
