Hello, my name is Dave Hunter and I was directed here by a user of another forum to post my daily driver up. So here it is... 1975 Datsun 260Z I shall have new photos up soon. The car now carries the number plate '1975 260Z' and the wheels have changed from the standard Z rim to something a little more sportier. Underneath is the standard L26 motor (2.6-litre inline 6) using round top SU carbs from the 240Z. It also carries a 2 and 1/2 inch exhaust system (more out of neccessity than anything else. Previous pipe was patched with Jim Beam cans by previous owner). Previous owner's restoration project site is found here: members.optusnet.com.au/kenbtt

Nice Z indeed!
Is that front spoiler/skirt standard?

Well spotted Lewis. It is in fact a fibreglass kit that is locally produced here in Western Australia. It hides the chassis detail that really doesn't deserve to be shown.

Cool Methinks it needs lowering a shade though, would look faaan-tastic then! Any plans for it or just (quite rightfully!) enjoying it as is?

I'm not sure of lowering it, to be honest. Quite a good stance is still to be had I reckon as is. Big plan at the moment is a service, replacement of the gasket at the exhaust extractors and to recheck the tappets and valve clearances. It's proving a major worry to me, as a week later, I'm due to go with it to a street drag event at the Perth Motorplex for the first time and I want to make sure mechanically it will have no problems at all.

Glad to see you made it over ;D Absoulutely awesome Z and last of the great ones IMO. Previous car I had was a 1978 280ZX. Big mistake, as it has nowhere near the same look and is just a luxury cruisemobile more than stripped out coupe. Plus it had worse reliability, so no better off with it. We also have a 1977 example of the 260Z, I shall endeavor to get photos of both in the end.

Wow , you can have 8 digit numberplates in WA! I did not know. 280ZX to a 260 2+2 - gradually going up the ladder of street-cred Zeds! Are you a member of the WA Z club?

Previous owner was, and I should be following suit in February. PS Hate to disappoint you, it's nine digits (with space) ;D

Thanks tigran for helping me get back here. Um, yes update would be good I guess. All the parts that were highly suspect have been replaced. So that means it has a reconditioned head and 240Z extractor pipes. Having fun with it down at the local drag track. My times are pretty shockingly bad elapsed time wise (17.99 was one of the better ones), but hardly surprising thanks to it's poor auto box. Some pics of it at the track: Sorry for the bloody massive bump though.
