Evening everyone. Been on this site a few times and have seen some impressive motor's. A friend of mine persuaded me to post up my cars, so here I am... First up, my first car (purchased in 2003 when I was 15) is my Austin Maestro 1.3 Special. Bought for just £50, I've never had any trouble getting it through an MoT and I've barely had to do anything to it. Some photo's taken only recently, now that I've put it back on the road (second time in total). Currently on 94k miles: My other Maestro is my Moonraker Blue Vanden Plas. Purchased in June this year, run between July and November, has just 66k on the clock. Taken a week or so ago: Taken at BL Rally, Peterborough, in August: Hope you like - I'm sure you'll appreciate it takes a bit of work keeping cars like these on the road.

Welcome to R-R. Great to see a nice couple of Maestro's, another of those cars that you used to see every time you turned round yet now seem to have dissapeared!

Don't encourage him, he'll only post more pix of it ;D It doesn't look as aristocratic as my VP in Oporto Red

Welcome to RR! Metallic colours really do suit Maestros and Montys, yours both look fantastic! I've always kinda liked them, but Maestros are appealing more and more to me! Especially the steel bumpered versions like your 1.3 Special What other Maestros sported the steel bumpers then?

What other Maestros sported the steel bumpers then? All the base 1.3 petrol, 2.0 Clubman diesels, and the Ledbury-built kit cars (like this one):

^^^^^^ that moonraker blue is the doppelganger of a V-P auto we used to cane unmercifully back in 92-93........ a mates car - he had that - another had the montego 2.0 (hl?) and I was in my V8 TR7....... oh the memories......... norfolk constabulary absolutely loved us! Nice motors matey - welcome! When you hunting down a turbo version then? ;D EDIT - wasn't here an MG Maestro cup or some such thing?

Oh yeah, metal bumpers, propper half modern car 8) wish I could put metal bumpers on me Sierra. Welcome maestrospecial and G51NAV, these Maestros have always appealed to me (specially without a montego front end! ) since one spoke to me in 1985 or whever it was!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Cheers for all the positive comments. ;D Indeed it is unusual for someone my age to be driving a Maestro - but I just love it! I'll be sticking around I think.

my dad used to have one of them. his was pretty battered. i think we managed to pull one of the door handles off without much effort.
it was still awesome though. "please fasten your seatbelt". amused me no end when i was a nipper! i reckon thats what modern cars need, reminders not to be dumb!

All the base 1.3 petrol, 2.0 Clubman diesels, and the Ledbury-built kit cars (like this one): To be picky: The later 1.6 Automatic was available with metal bumpers, in Clubman spec. but these are rare. I did prefer the metal bumper models, until I bought my VP. ;D

wow, maestros and montegos in abundence. unusual 4 an 18year old to hanker after one, good on yer. all it needs is some mgf wheels and a 2.0 turbo engine. oh.... thats my car!! could always stick the bits off a metro turbo in it! or............ 1380 maestro, roller rockers, 649 cam, lcb etc. theres a thought. just had a better thought, 8 port maestro. loads of room for a nice pair of webers. don't mod the vdp, too rare for that.
