Great car, great project. Glad to see you're keeping things period-ish too. My gran had a 1300gt, which I drove a lot and it was superb. Same colour as yours too, but with a sexy vinyl roof. Seeing yours makes me wish my Dad hasn't donated it to the local fire brigade for cutting up practice...

Super cool car! stick with it, it's gonna be a right stormer when it's done! As drop gears go, I think Morspeed do some reasonably priced ones, worth a look at any rate www.morspeed.co.uk/miniparts.htmwww.morspeed.co.uk/Herr Colonel, your car is also rather awesome looking!!!

Time for a proper update...... It's nackered, It would appear that now it's all together that the crank must be slightly bowed, as it's got a tight spot when turning it over by 'hand'. Also, I reckon the crank hasn't had enough taken off it for the new Mains because it takes a bloody big torque wrench and about 30lbs ft to get it to rotate. I ain't spending another penny on that engine, so it'll be coming out, the crank dumped and the rest ebay'd in the next few weeks. I've started rebuilding the original engine to go back in...... never should have touched it tbh, waste of time and an awful lot of money for nothing

thats not good fella? cant you just recon your crank out of the old engine and put it into your new engine, then all the hours of work and money wont be wasted..... what spec have you done the engine and is that a proper lcb 1100-1300 manifold or is it a mini which would need to be cut and lenthend to suit.....

Gutted to hear about the crank prob, but, as others have said, wouldn't sourcing a new 'un be cheaper than eBaying the lot?

Nice project!
I've recently suffered the frustration of working on one of these too... the GF's one had a rusty shell, so we swapped all her (slightly tired) mechanicals into a better shell... argh. It's still not going. Electrical things did not work out to plan. It's a 1300 though. Will be sweet once sorted.

It was a reground crank, with VP3 shells to suit.... can't do much about a damaged crank. Although I do have anouther reground crank, but that's at 30's and 40's but it's a curse word to get shells at that size It's got Inncenti Rods AE 73.5mm 11cc pistons, stg3 U/L head (DIY ) and a Kent 276.... and yeah, a Propper Maniflow for the ADO16 range (though it does still say Mini 1100-1300 on the invoice LOL) And if you wanted one..... phew... don't know what I was thinking... it'd cost you £225.55 inc VAT and Carrage!

Bobz, what's happening here then? Another assault on this and get it out for this years shows?
Mine should be at least roadworthy - just praying I can keep it that way.
