Right, here's my latest acquisition, and finally a return to the retro world for me! It's a 1972 VW Fasback 1600E. It's got 37000 miles on the clock (supposedly genuine as it was barn stored for 20 years), and runs as sweet as a dream. Thank god for that cos I've not got a clue when it comes to fuel injected motors! The last owner was a bit of a hotrod fan, hence all the pinstripping. I've got a few small plans for it, nut nothing major, just gonna enjoy it for a bit. Anyway's here's some pics from the other morning; Wet and dirty; Front - pinstrip heaven!; T'other side;

The rear end features a bit more pinstripping and a towbar! I've also got the rear bumper laying around, as well as to early style fiberglass ones which I may paint at some point and try out. Rear; Pinstriptastic; Here's some pics of the rack that currently adorns the car too; And another;

And onto the inside. The interior is in pretty good overall condition, the headlining is showing it's age though. Looks like it may have had a leaky sunroof seal at some point in the past. Red and cream, god I'm so predictable!; Steering wheel and front shelf will probably go too (I'll obviously replace the wheel with another one though!); Sh!t a brick - more pinstripping!; This little guy better not get too comfy either! To be removed ASAP;

I knew you'd be lured in by the pinstripping dude! ;D
Think I'm gonna hold onto it til the bus is done at least (which should hopefully be around May)

The front shelf looks very cool, I wonder if someone with long legs can sit there comfortable ? How is it driving with the autobox ? LOL! Jabbo really isn't in a position to comment on long legs ;D

Believe me they're a lot easier for tall people than Beetles are. Like Nick say,s I'm not the tallest dude in the world, but I've got a couple of tall mates (6'4") and they fit in it no probs. The autobox is fantastic. My old one was an auto as well and I really can't fault them at all. As for the shelf, it'll be coming out if you're interested? ;D

Wow! These T3s are really coming out of the woodwork.... Looking pretty amazing, hope the injection system all works as I've heard it to be a bit of an oddball to diagnose, but when its working it's pretty reliable. Got a steerywheel if you want it (generic three-spoke off my T3, no hornpush, muchos cheapos) and you're a lucky jolly pain in the backside getting the red rear / clear front indicator combo, I had them on my old Fastback and like a muppet I think I sold it with them on - they're ££££! Did you say you had two early fibreglass bumpers? If you're interested in swapping one for some hard cash, I'm always looking at ways to save weight!

Hey Jabbo, looks lubberly. Hows the tinworm looking on it? Also, you may be able to help - is there an interior panel that sits on the underside of the dash - above where your shelf is? Could I be really cheeky and ask for a pic of the engine bay when you have a minute? I think I'm missing the engine seal and some tinwear on mine... Jabbo/MrJ/Pillock - we should organise a line up at the R-R show this year

Yeah, what's the deal with all the Fastys at the mo?! I used to have a 68 as well, but stupidly sold it last year (biggest regret of my life), so when the opportunity come to trade the missus beetle for this I jumped at it. Thanks for the offer on the steering wheel, but I've actually got an ivory wheel with full d ring to go on it. It was suppose to be a present for my girlfriend for her car, but seeing as that's gone I guess I lucked out! There's a load of spare lenses under the bonnet (not had a proper look yet), I'll see if theres anymore of the sought after type for you. If you want the bumpers let me know, and I'm sure we can do a deal. Think I'm gonna keep it stock so doubt I'll use them.

Here's apic of my old one for reference sake; 57000km from new (and the history to back it up), original paint, and never welded. What an a$$ I am for selling it.

Jabbo/MrJ/Pillock - we should organise a line up at the R-R show this year Cheers dude, I've not given it a full going over, but from what I can see it's all good. It's had some work done in the past, but it was all done by T3D, so I'm pretty confident in it. Yeah there's some black plastic panel behind the shelf, once the shelf is out I'll investigate further. Don't know if it's something to do with blowers or the like. I'll get pics of the engine ASAP, but probably won't be til the weekend (by the time I get home from work is pitch black). A Fasty meet up sounds like a top idea!

Thanks, I've been working out! ;D Well today I finally got round to doing a bit of work on the car, albeit small. First up it was time for that hideous skull gear shift to go, and back on with the stock one; I'm toying with the idea of getting an ivory one, so it matches the steering wheel I've got planed. I also removed the front shelf and the pinstripping on the glove box;
