Hello there, Would my staggering 1.0 litre 96' Pug 106 qualify as 'retro' yet. I purchased it yesterday from the old ebay for £400 with 63 k on the clock which does seems genuine. Its got to go into the garage next week to have the tracking done as its dragging to the left slightly, and theres a slight knocking in the lower regions of revs in third gear, other than that i think its pretty sweet, it got me home from Abbots Bromley in Staffordshire yesterday which was a 50 mile trip without any probloms. I just hope that knocking isnt anything to servere (you never know untill its up on the ramp) Anyway, I threw some 3 spoke alloys on it today and hope to fit new rear and front seats in it tomorrow, they are from a Pug 106 Roland Garros in half White leather. I think they will look pretty good myself as the Car is White already. I wanted to post some pictures up of it which i can take tomorrow, but wanted to check first if the car could even be classes as retro. Finally, if anyone has a 106 id love to hear about it, this is my fourth 106 ive owned and i think they are great little cars. My last 3 have just been A2B run-arounds but i hope to make something of this one. And id be happy to hear your ideas for some other retro modifcations i could do.

probably look good with some small, wide rims.

Not retro i'd say but don't let that put you off. I'd keep it simple, lowering with wide steelies, predictive but it will work and not trying to prove owt.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Mate of mine had a Series 1 Rallye, I loved it, it would just rev and rev...once he'd slapped an induction kit and an OMP GrpN exhaust on it it sounded the part too.
I agree with fomoco....set of banded Rallye steels, slam it as far down as you can get it..

Its proven very hard getting wheels to be honest, as its a 3 stud hub. I scoured loads of scrapyards and only just about came up with the 3 spokes. The 3 studs that some companies manufacture New, that ive seen are all sh*t, they're to chavvy and tacky for my liking and ive yet to see any that are smaller than 15''
If anyone spots some though giz a shout. I could always just put some wider tyres onto the 3 spokes though.

Welcome, they aren't exactly retro for most people, but they are definatly one of those cars with potential to look real good, with some suitable retro modding So entirely acceptable round here Basically 3 stud = Gotti rims in my head. www.ebay.fr is your best bet Or : www.gbsalpine.com/wheel/gotti/eng.html13" would be your best bet, although I think it could look pretty trick slammed on a set of 16" rims they would need to be bang on correct in terms of offset, tyre size and stance, or it would look like you bought wheels that are too big But if you got it right,.. ooooooh yesh! ... but 13" dish Gotti wheels = way forwards

What I like 106s is that they are light and simple. no nonsense, and with modern build i'd expect not much rust leaving you able to be creative making the car look and ride better. Rallye wheels in white or other colour or summat understated, or ebay, or hotwires suggestion. await pictures.....

I know it's been done to death......but a 106 slammed in that really light blue they did early on with a set of 8" Gotti No.7's with polished rims and orange centres....yum

Here she is. I never got round to installing the seats today. Hopefully it will be wednesday now, also i didnt mention i only got two of the alloys on yesterday, you can still get an idea of how they would look though. Ill be doing a few bits here and there this week to it and giving it a good wash and polish, it needs it badly. Ill post new pics up along the way. Thanks for your advice and thoughts everybody.

Can't say I'm lovin' the 3 spokes TBH - but then I never have. Those Compo MOs on ebay would set the white off a treat if you sprayed them black. If you can find some wide 13" trailer steels with the right stud pattern that would also look ace IMO.

Something like these odin? I think these look great actually, not to sure about spraying them black though. I wonder how theyd look just kept as they are. Thanks for the idea mate.
