Not actually mine, but it's the car I've been service crewing for since 2004, so I'm sure Dean (the owner) won't mind me posting a few pics on here..
Anyway here it is the day we picked it up from Dartford in Jan 2004.
Spec is as follows
1982 Talbot Sunbeam Ti
Engine; 1998cc Vauxhall XE Redtop, twin 45's, running mapped ignition system, rally cams, dyno'd at 199bhp at rear wheels at 6600rpm by Hi-Tec Motorsport in Lye. Since then it's been completely rebuilt by Maynard Engineering in Woodmancote, Glos, dry sumped etc etc...but won't be on the dyno again until the new yr. We're confident of 230-240 bhp this time though.....
Transmission; Tran-X Pro type 9 straight-cut 5-speed, English Ford axle adapted to Talbot mounts running strengthened shafts and a Quaife ATB diff
Suspension/Steering/Brakes; Bilstein all round, roller bearing top mounts, rose-jointed bottom arms by Stanspeed, lightweight quick rack, big discs up front with Wilwood calipers, XR3i rear discs adapted to run cable and hydraulic handbrake
Shell; Seam-welded was ex-Safety Devices display car, the shell allegedly sat on display at their factory in Cambridgeshire for some years. Arched, polycarbonate windows and tailgate.
Just been repainted Scania red by Paul Ratcliffe at BMC in Birmingham.
Wheels/Tyres; mix of 13" rims, mainly 8" Alleycats with 200 Dunlops or Kumhos, selection of 6" rims with wets on, and some Wellers for rougher events.
The car cost £4500 including trailer ready-built, since then Dean's upgraded the box, suspension, had the engine totally rebuilt, had it resprayed, and erm...crashed it twice. Here's a pic of it after the first off at Caerwent in March 2005/
This was followed 6 weeks later by a MASSIVE shunt at the Hixon Stages when the steering rack snapped at 110mph, the car demolished 6 massive fence posts, ripped out 100yds of fencing, then ended up nose-first in a ditch in a field of rhubarb....it's STILL being rebuilt....
But also in that time we managed to take the overall Class C award in the 2004 Cotswold Motor Sport Group Stage Rally Championship, so it's not all bad...
I'll keep you posted how we get on.
Brian
