::)Well, ive owned this nice little number for a few years now, and ive decided its going back to original, but modified if that makes sense? A ltd edition imp caledonian. So, the stripping started at about 6 tonight when I got home from work. Trying to decide where was best to remove stuff from first I decided to take the engine and gearbox out... This was done in about 40 mins and around 7 Marcus (marcp on here) came round to help me strip, then we got to the car. We stood for a while, scratched various orifices trying to decide where to unbolt stuff from first. I removed all the windows at this stage... Then I picked up the angle grinder and went through the check strap on the door, and unbolted (easier said than done, a drill was used eventually), while marc took the dash out... I then decided to rip out the headlining (and unfortunately did actually rip it ) The fuel tank was removed and all of its contents put into my golf And then all of the interior was removed, including loads of curse word that I appeared to have forgotten was there... The bonnet is also off and all of the lights. we also found some money we are going to put towards the fucding of the project, prtected my marcs amazingly long fingers... And also postman pats van... An update tomorrow...

You failed to mention that without my superb drill skills you would still have a door held on with only 1 screw One looks forwards to the continuation of stripping tomorrow, and dismantling of your motorcar.

what was the Caledonean? I've heard of them, but never knew. Kind of like a colder version of the Californian? LOL

Sorry, i forgot about this thread... All the engine bay is stripped won and has been cleaned with paraffin, i am grit blasting it tomorrow. The rest of the cooling system has been removed and all of the front stripped down. Unfortunately when i put the car back outside i forgot to take more pics, and this is all i have... don't think il need that polish any time soon! Doors gone, seat gone, dash gone. but how does it go back together? Front end completely stripped, ready for prep... I'm afraid ive had a few days not working on it and its just sat outside since this, although I'm working on it again tomorrow, starting the body work, then off for paint soon as thats done. I will get better pics in the daylight as well.

Oh yea, the swirl pot is staying, i fitted it for the front rad.
The caledonian is a late run ltd edition to around 2000 They were all cherry red and had a tartan interior, ribbon radio, with single speaker, alternator, heated rear screen and are generally on a p plate (mines 76)
They had coachlines/pinstripes down the side and stainless steel door mirrors.

Right well after a lot of problems I have finally sorted out (an insurance claim from when this car was crashed into, I won!) I am back onto it big time! I finally got one of my lazy friends to come round and help, despite asking for weeks, and we got it to this stage. And had a good run round the car, found only this small patch of rust ;D This was late in the evening so couldnt do any real work. In between college and work today I managed to get an hour in, I reckon another couple of hours should see the whole of the bottom done... I'm back out tomorrow and will update when I can, work weekend evenings see... David

Day 4 has only seen the rear suspension being taken off and a lot more underseal, nothing to show much change although pics are available. Tomorrow evening: more underseal grinding, some welding, some etch primer and anti chip (if i get down the local paint suppliers), hopefully followed by some paint, although i see myself running out of time to do all this tomorrow.

In above pic you can see where we scribed the plate where it was to be trimmed. This was done with a 3" air cut off tool, and then welded up, and seam sealed. The rear wing was accident damaged over a year ago and a good wing was sourced and fitted so i could drive it up to national. I then finished seam welding inside the arch and seam sealed today I started anti-chipping and got this much done before i ran out of the stuff, need to get more tomorrow. If i have the time tomorrow the bottom will be finished and i can put the car back on its belly, although i may be picking up my work van, that will take a few hours due to distances.
