i know i posted this on the main forum but i thought id start a thread here too. few dings and scrapes here and there and some bubbling on the sunroof. nothing a good panel beating and a paint touch up wont fix wheels could do with a refurb but i don't want them mint since id be worried about kerbing them. plus i may change them if i can afford the insurance for mods.

Lovely.
How many kms? Manual?
Don't rev it past 3000-3500 until the engine is at temp and then go for your life. It will prefer being revved than babied about.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

JC - your insurance must cost you a fortune!! Nice ride though...I've been half tempted to trade in the Rocco for one

I like long walks, especially when they're taken by people I don't like.

its got 50k miles on the clock. not sure how that translates to KM apparently it does have 4 seats but all I can find in the back is a tiny shelf with seatbelts not fit for human occupation! in a strange contrast, the boot is huge! and it has seatbelts for your luggage! I'm just finding insurance now. I got quoted 875 by adrian flux and I can find a few more that will do it for around 900. adrian flux are screwing me around: "sorry we cant use the 2 years no claims since you already use them for the golf" gits! I'm cancelling the golf anyway!

Had my mini insured with them for 3 years, phoned them up the other week too insure my Dolly, said to them I've got 5 years, I want 5 years on both my Mini and Dolly, and they said fine, no problem ;D £250 for my Mini and £400 for my Dolly, both with guaranteed money thingy if anything happens ;D

adrian flux told me to ring back tomorrow to cancel the golf and insure the mazda. hopefully it will be that simple and i can just transfer the no claims straight accross. i always thought it was 2 years + no claims = 2 years no claims. i guess i must be retarded or something

the tiny little exhaust is something to do with emmissions. no idea what it does specifically though
I'm not going to be running 3 cars since I'm selling the golf. i probably could afford to run 3 since i live with my parents and am working full time but it would be a bit pointless running the golf since the mazdas my comfortable, fast(ish) car and the buggy is my weekend bit-o-fun.
right! I'm VERY confused about my insurance now! my dad rang up and set everything up for me since hes more experienced with insurance. passed the phone to me to confirm it was me since i was cancelling the golfs insurance and transferring my no claims to the mazda. she said "you will recieve a letter about your extra £34 charge from the credit company (since i pay monthly)" i assumed she meant £34 per month. at the end of the phone call she asked me if i had any questions. i realised that i didnt know how much this would cost per year so i asked her. she replied £500. now that is roughly £34 more than i was paying on the golf. but thats rediculous! surely she must mean £500 more than the golf per year?!
i guess ill find out when the papers come through!

maybe its £500 per month more than the golf and the buggy combined!

a bit of an update for y'all.
fannying around with stereo tuesday night while the engine was off. flat battery when i tried to start it later that night. though oh well serves me right. jump started then drove it round for about an hour. was fine untill this morning (thursday). flat battery again. curse word. new battery tonight and all is good so far. hoping it was just a dud battery and not something staying on and draining the battery.
on the positive side i gave it some oomph tonight and let it get to about 5k revs rather than the 3k i normally do (I'm still getting used to it and cant thrash my baby!). its a monster! my exact words were "f*ck me that gets to 60 fast!"
also i was saying to a friend that i was surprised with the amount of fancy gadgets and things it has. my mate says "I'm not surprised. it is an 80s supercar after all" is it actually classed as a supercar? i always just thought it was a generic sports car?

Back in the day they were seen as the serious alternative to the Porsche of the era (944 I think), More so the Turbo II model which was certainly classified as a supercar of the late eighties. One thing which you may not have seen which is quite novel... If you go to open the doors in the dark and can't find the keyhole lift the door handle as there are light cylinders which illuminate the door keyholes as well. (If they still work after 16+ years is another matter though) The battery on mine needs replacing tbh, Check the light (left hand side) in the rear hatch area and make sure its not permanently set to on. Also remember there are lights in the doors which do take their toll on the battery if you work on the car for any length of period and leave them open. I was redoing my audio install a couple of months ago and almost killed the battery after working on the car for 2 days straight with the doors open.

iv noticed the keyhole light. iv never been so impressed in my life! iv never seen that on another car ever. its the stuff i would expect on modern cars not ones from the 80s!
the boot light is off. i cant see any lights or anything on. probably just a dud battery. it looked pretty old
i got the new battery from halfords. i made a note of the numbers on top of the old battery (40 and 430 i think). i looked in the halfords list thing for the rx7 battery and it had a different one next to it. they didnt have any 40 430 ones so i got the one they reccommended. is it ok to get a different battery? is there a risk of overloading the electrics and catching fire?

A different battery will be fine as long as it meets the cold crank requirements and has a decent capacity, Whats the rating of the one you managed to get?
