Love the sidecar and bike. What's the ride like on her as I see (can't really make it out) that it's solid must be a ball breaker!

I bought the 300D from a mate after he bought a 93 300TD. He was going to swap the wheels over but I didn't want his steelies. While rummaging in the boot,I found a spare centre cap with the logo "Carat by Duchatelet".I did a bit of digging and found out they were fitted when the 300D was new and they cost the first owner £1600 with tyres! I said to him " You know the wheels on the 300D?" "Oh yeah,The AMG copies?" "Eh, no I mean the nice expensive Duchatelet ones that you didn't switch on to your 300TD" 'Pig sick' doesn't even come close!!! Can't go back on a deal now, can you? ;D I did think of fitting 19"s on her but I like the pipe and slippers ride. I bought the sidecar outfit as a frame, chair chassis, chair and 3 wheels for £100. A couple of mates donated spares from their stocks including a 4 speed box with reverse. I bought a 1981 R65 for £150 for the motor and sold the rest for £150. The clutch is from a 1953 BMW R51/3. It's first paint was Dulux burgundy gloss with magnolia stripes as seen on the chair. This was changed to Smoothrite red. The chair seat is a E30 BMW seat with the backrest turned upside down to fit the chair with a Sabelt 3 point harness. 12v car battery in the chair boot with a socket in the chair. Rack made from an old pine bed.Heated grips and hand guards were fitted later. All in, it cost under £600 to get her on the road. Fellow bikers took the curse word about being slow when we all went to bike rallies but they were green with envy when 2 of us on outfits turned up with a 6 man tent, table, chairs, fridge, generator, cooker, lights, proper camp beds AND 3 cases of beer!! Kinda felt sorry for them in their wee tents with wet, muddy knees and sore backs!! ;D The seat is original but raised 3 inches as I had a knackered anterior cruciate and couldn't bend my knee properly. Even though the suspension was crude, it was brilliant to ride and you could even get it sliding all 3 wheels on right handers with a load of opposite lock. Try one. Once you get you're head round the 'no leaning' thing you'll love it. Imagine the fun of doing 150mph on a Blade/R1. You get the same level of fun at 50mph on a Cossack. Cheers for posting the pics for me guys. Ian
