I saw the car advertised in a Classic Car Mag about 2 year's ago within an auction list and had to have it as I'd been on the hunt for ages. I bought the car even without seeing it and no MOT (well e-mailed pics) hired a trailer and drove from North Wales all the way down to Cambridge. The auction was at an old chicken farm with over 300 cars stored away in the sheds (one guys collection) and the place was full of old Mercs, Jags, american cars etc. the Passat was the only VW there. It was a lucky find. I was going to fit my Alley cat rims on it, but they stick out too far and (I think) look too small in the arches, which is a shame. I'm looking to re-paint it in the original colour retaining all the trim, but don't have to touch the interior as it is mint. May also fit a set of Porsche Fuchs in Satin Black with polished rim, but this won't be for some time yet. I have also added pics of some other cars I have.      I'll post a pic of my '83 MK1 Golf van & 1960 Ragtop Bug when I sort a pic. |

It was a lucky find. Thought so!!!  The reason I asked was I remebered viewing this car at the 'Arbtree Farm' auction about 2 and a half years ago! I must say that I was extremely tempted by it even though it wasn't really what I was after at the time. Glad to see that you are making the most of it |

Is the place still going, because at the time I took it he was just clearing out a collection of vehicles he had built up over the year's.
There were loads of interesting vehicles at the place.
