this sounds like I'm jumping on the band wagon a bit but never mind
ive always like early metros and always thought they had bags of potential and now uve proved it for me mate. I'll be showing my metro hating friend this thread and then pointing and laughing in his face.
thanks for the proof to back up my theory
ps. hope the mini gets better soon

Ace. One question though - are you trying to tell me it actually drives like that?

It will do but ive raised it a bit so its a bit more 'practical' (yawn) its easy to raise/lower you just pump more fluid in to go up and let it out to go down.
I'm going to try and lower it by modifying the droop stops so it sits on them perminatly. Then i can pump it up super hard and it wont rub on the arches so bad.

So you now have basic hydraulics, now you just need to figure out how to connect up pumps permanently and keep a gimp in the car to keep pumping/unpumping each one.

So what's the plan with the banded wheels? MOT it with stockers and swap them over after? I thought they weren't allowed? Personally I can't see any problem if they're done properly but as is the case with most things it's spoiled by the minority.

The big question though: Wil the MOT bloke really notice them?

i was going to suggest that this car should go into the retro rides manifesto but i see its already been done. not suprised to be honest. Ive always liked metros having had a soft spot for anything BL for years, but ive NEVER wanted one this bad! A mate of mine likes anything RWD and not much FWD and detests metros with a passion. When i told him about this one his exact words were ''f### off, you t###'' then i showed him the pictures. He'll never be the same again. He said ''I love it..... oh s###''
Says it all realy. The stance is spot on and you cant get any better that good 'ol hearing aid beige.

is there any chance of having the legalities of banded wheels being discussed getting banned on this site for a few weeks? its getting a bit tiresome now

Day 46 Started stripping the engine down. Not had much of a chance to inspect it all properly but the bores are std and have no wear that i can detect without putting the bore guage down them. You can still see the honing marks which is a good sign. The heads had one of the manifold studs butchered a bit but i can get around that i think. look at my tidy bench there !

Yeh i saw that, I can see hes talking a load of curse word from the ebay ad alone. I'm not thinking of it as a kit as such, just a job lot of parts. but like i say theres alot of stuff there for 300quid that i could use on my engine and or sell on and hes fairly close to me so i could go collect so no problem with getting ripped off.

id say thats the best thing for that lot, to use it as a rebuild kit for another engine. If you bought it with a view to build it as is i think you might end up sorely disapointed.
your metros still PHat by the way!
