Paint it heariing aid beige, get the smallest bumpers that you can for a nova, then lower it, lots, and lots, and lots!
Then get a turbo / blower / grass track engine, a very long second gear ratio, and it might, just might hit 85 in second......................at 20Krpm!

Importantly (as we will see shortly), the 1.0 is based on the old Kadett OHV engine, not the Family II like the other Novas.
Okay - the dirty bits:
A 1.9 Nova has a 4.18 Final Drive and 1.96 second gear.
From memory, they run on 155/65/r13 rubber which gives a rolling radius of 1,670.38 millimeters or 5.48024934 feet.
Using the formula mph = (rpm * cir) / (gear * final * 88)
where:
rpm = engine rpm cir = tire cicumference, in feet gear = gear ratio of your car final = final drive ratio of your car 88 = combines several conversion factor
At 7,000 rpm you will be doing a smidgen over 50mph.
To get to 85mph, you'll be doing 11900rpm.
Are you SERIOUSLY trying to say that your 1.0 Nova revs to nearly 12,000 rpm?

Hmmm something tells me he may have been a troll,.. If not,.. come back and explain yourself ... if he has taken the time to register and post then he is clearly enthusiastic enough to want to interact... So we will see,.. troll that is gonna get flamed,.. or enthusiast with a bit of incorrect boasting*... *Who of us hasn't done that at some point.

The thing is he has clearly missed the point of retro rides, its not about how fast or how powerful, its all in the excecution. The nova could be dog slow for all i care, but it would need no springs and satin blue metallic paint FTWzorz
J
EDIT - suprisingly the BMW M1 supercar can do 85 in first, would be a good race 1L nova VS BMW M1

an e-type will do 90 in second (and HOW I WANT TO HAVE A GO ) a nova won't. One of my old aggros ended up with a metro gearbox and way out tyre sizes for a while. The speedo was waaay out. Maybe a similar thing? Perhaps it's got no tyres on it?

maybe all the power was executing a massive burnout in second and the speedo buzzed up to 85 mph and with all the tyre smoke going to the poor boys head, he must of thought he was time travaling - Delorean style!! Even M J Fox had trouble getting to 85 in this time machine. Maybe its not a Nova maybe.....

I had a rover 25, 1.4, the 104bhp jobby and that would hit 70+ in second but that was a company car and you can wonderful stuff with them! Needed a new clutch fairly often as well.
85 in 2nd is pish.
