stripped the van down more over the weekend the cortina part of the wiring loon has had a few odd faults since i built the car so as i'm painting the dash again i decided to pull the loom and see if i can cure the problems . i finished off the bits of bodywork and primed it up and base coated the the roll cage and dash in the new colour which is pretty close to the old one but a little brighter : : : : : : and my new tires finally arrived so the van should gripp a little better now ;D 275/40/17's FTW ;D ;D : : :

been messing about getting the van ready for paint tomorrow or is that today lost track of time now ;D dash and roll cage are now in base coat and awaiting clear coat once the rest of the van is done . I had an idea for the bumpers a chrome paint that is actually very close to looking like real chrome but unfortunately it didn't quite work how it should have so it will be back to plan "A". for those shame really cos it almost worked : : : candy pinstripe on the dash it reacted first time so had to redo it . I was going to do it with a silver center but it gives too much glare on the inside of the front screen, one of the reasons for removing the silver from the top of the dash in the first place . : top of the dash hasn't been left completely plain though meet Yorick ;D ;D :

I like the look of the dash - what did you make of the chrome paint, I'm sure the pics aren't showing it up right.

the paint is quite good best chrome look paint i've tried so far but it still isn't quite right . i think it would work on say a set of wheels but its very expensive for what you get

at last the paint is done took longer than expected but was worth doing the colour and finish is much better than before and the new additions also came out pretty well just got colour sand and polish it now and put it back together without scratching it ;D heres the pics bear in mind it still needs flatting and polishing one of the down sides of not having a proper both pitures don't really show off the colour i'll get some of it out side once i've got it back together but you get the general idea ;D : : : : : : : and here a little video tour ;D :

You are obviously a skilled painter, very nice. What's the trick of painting over the roof? twin scaffold boards on trestles either side of the car to stand on or something?

How is it that you can do all this so quickly? It'd take me ages to do that and it wouldn't be any where near as good

What's the trick of painting over the roof? twin scaffold boards on trestles either side of the car to stand on or something? not quite the van is qite low so the roof is no problem when i did the roof of evil geds old 929 estate we let the tires down to get it down lower . when i had my old paintshop i had a chevy blazer with a big lift kit fitted and huge tires so we had to fit a set of smaller wheels and tires just to get it in the workshop then we took the rear body off and stood in back to paint the cab and used its own bigger wheels and tires to stand on and paint the rest ;D ;D its just a case of what ever you need to do to be able to reach really
