Time for a quick update I feel. For the unfamilar, its a 1982 mk1 golf GL five door, with a 1.5 engine and a five speed box...and a BROWN interior. The " general squalour " look is what we're aiming for here, note bargain basement bmw 3 series wheels to get it through the MOT. from the rear.....pwoar...not. Interior which is OH so brown, with a steering wheel from my mk1 driver. The engine room, note - new strut top mounts, new brake pipes, HT leads etc etc..... and yes, I know the inner wings LOOK rusty - they aren't ;D Nice shiny twin choke weber....that should pep things up nicely... currently need to - fix blown exhaust, grease rear wheel bearings and a couple of other odds and sods, if anyone has a set of VDO dials for the centre console and a set of dashboard demister grills, please PM me, although no " scene tax " please. ;D

I liked those original spec steel GTI wheels you had on it before - probably needed new tyres though.

quick update, spent yesterday sorting the leaky exhaust manifold ( its one with those nasty c clips to hold it together ! ) Sorting out some dodgy wiring for lights and windscreen washers etc.... all thats left to do now, is points and timing, get the other set of wheels i've got on ( Passat GT alloys ) sort the mixture out, and we're at MOT time, its first for seven years !

More pics as soon as we get the passat GT wheels on, and after i've got those horrid primer "patches " off....i've heard oven cleaner is good. and then, a damned good clean inside and out .... oh, and finish plumbing up the oil cooler.. and the cambelt and tensioner, which i've just remembered....

Did the cambelt and tensioner yesterday - why oh why did VW design it so you have to undo an engine mount and jack the left side of the engine up two inches to get the tensioner off ?? anyway, thats done, and gave that side of the block a damned good clean ....much better.... getting there, pic update soon !
