Ah you got it then! Excellent! Looks clean! How does it perform with the diesel in there then? I imagine its not that slow, must have a fair bit of torque

600miles out of £40 of fuel and looking good at the same time I read this bit and went; Eh! then realised its a diesel. great stuff, its a propper XR with Diesel put in? wow, as a daily it ticks boxes! Personally i'd be tempted to de-sport it a little by taking off the skirts and arch extenders, you may need to tcut the paint to match though. Oh and perhaps mod the badge! It should still handle alright be comfy enough and you are quids in, fair enough!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

My uncle used to smoke around in a XR2-kitted Diseasel van. In brown.
Basically an XR2 with plated rear side windows and a derv lump...then brush-painted brown.

yes its a real xr2 looking back at the old mots it was moted as a petrol till 2001 then derv after that. it performs ok but you have to drop the gears on the banks i don't want to de sport it if anything ill give it some slight mods I'm a big fan of the xr2's

Stick a zetec in and keep the disesel gear box. Much better ratios in them, a favourite mod with RS turbo owners

'Endura TD' out of a late Escort or Focus FTW.... huge dollops of torque and you can still run it on chip-fat.

Yeah I was going to say, a TD lump would be the way forward for this...
Even one of the 2.0 TD lumps from a Mundaneo or the 1.8 from a Scort would be multo cool.

Love it, looks and economy.
I echo pogweasel and dubbedup totally Turbo Diesel it, some guy on fiestaturbo.com had a mk3 feista D with a TD transplant (out of a mk6 escort I know its not as flash as the new TDCi lumps but its a straight swap).
I seem to remember he added an intercooler and wound the boost up had well over 100 bhp and silly silly torque!
