A while back I posted down here about my sorry collection of wrecks, this is a progress thread for my powder blue 1960 Herald 948.
I bought this car in 1994, ran it until 2003 and then had to take it off the road because my industry and career went west for a couple of years. Now I have the chance to earn some hard-earned once more I'm doing my best to put this car back on the tarmac.
It's in pretty good nick, considering that it's been off the road for 3 years. I spent most of the last 10 years waxoyling it annually so it's pretty solid underneath. The paintwork's in a hell of a state, I botched a respray 2 years ago. It'll need the usual going over brakes and tyres. I've replaced the clutch with one I think is better because the one that was in it was slipping.
In the last week or two I've dealt with some rust that was getting away on the battery shelf. In a Herald that's above the passenger's feet. I cut it away and we welded in a repair plate, Kurusted it and painted it. Then I found a little hole that had got away under the regulator so I've just been patching that. Very annoying.
Still to come is a lot of cleaning up and painting. This car will never be a concours d'elegance car but I hope it will be up for another 46 years.
