Righto, I've got round to sorting some photos of my latest acquisition - a 910 Bluebird. It's got an L18 (I think, this is my first J-tin) and is a GL.
Bit of a mugshot to begin with. Nice original paint, a few scuffs and lifted lacquer in places but generally good. It's got the stepped grille since it's RWD. Quick question here - did they do a practically identical FWD one? Without the grille? Just curious.
Nice. Apparently after 23 years it's far from effective though. Crust photos in my repair panels thread.
Fo' sho'! Took it over 41k on the four-hour road trip home. Drives like new though...silky shift on the five speed 'box, handles and rides well and the brakes are immense.
I love this. Handbook stowed in the glovebox with some old MOTs. The old chap has helpfully gone through the whole thing lightly crossing out anything irrelevant to this model, and written on the back some handy info.
Onto the interior! Bit grubby as you can see, but this should clean up ok. A couple of tiny tears on the back of the drivers seat. Washer bottle warning light flickers but this is probs just a loose connection. Awesomely dated radio doesn't work sadly - the powered aerial has been disconnected and messed with.
The back seat has barely been used. No rear belts fitted either. Note the Fresnel lens there - I can see why these were the motoring accessory to have in the 80s. Jolly handy for reversing etc.
No big plans for it at the moment. It's probably going to become my daily and I'll sort out the crusty bits. I'm tempted to accessorise it a bit with a tissue box for the parcel shelf, a tartan blanket for the back seat and one of those dog head stickers. Maybe a National Trust one too.... ;D
Eventually once this has passed from daily usage into project car status it may receive some slammage and Watanabe's.
