Hello nice people.
I have been browsing the forums for a while now, but only just signed up, my freind who has a Hillman Imp who is also on here got my to join.
This is my Series 2a Land Rover that I got for my 17th birthday, had been last taxed in 1996, but after 10 mins of fiddling, it fired up and ran sweet as a nut in 2004.
Was rotten all the way basically.
I took it apart completely and aimed to get it finished for July 2005... the Billing Land Rover show at Billing Aquadrome. This went a bit wrong, long story but didnt make it, long story but basically work to the chassis left it slightly out of true.
But anyway. I'm now in a bit of a rush to get it too Billing this year, which is 11 days away, its just a case of bolting together, bleeding brakes/clutch and firing up the engine. I have done it all myself, leant how to weld, how to paint, rebuilt the engine, the basics of car electrics, still don't really understand that though.
Had to mod the brackets that hold the front panel on slightly, shows the dodgy welding, holds ok though I guess.
I will update this daily if anyone wants me too, should have a ticket by friday ;D
Edit, It actually looks more like this at the moment as the body was only placed on to make sure things lined up, today I sorted all the brake pipes/wiring/greased drivetrain.
Tomorrow will see the body back on, and hopefully the seatbox, and also start the engine.
