Here is my 1986 Audi 80 CL. Standard apart from the early 80 Sport wheels (£25 off ebay with good tyres). 4 speed, 1.6 with a Weber carb. Have bought an 80 Sport (Golf GTI 8 valve) engine and Coupe GT gearbox (5 speed - taller gearing) to fit into it, and bigger front brakes. Here is the 80 Sport I am picking up soon. Depending on bodywork condition, I will either keep it and sell the CL, or swap the engine bits to the CL and slam it. Cheers, Steve

I’m a big fan of those old-shape 80’s, much more so than the later more rounded sort. This one looks KOOL.
Not what I would call ‘Pimp’ though, I wonder if this word is now starting to be devalued now from rampant over-use.

Great, top one looks as though its in great nick. Love these aswell although i'm looking for a Typ81 (with the longer taillights) or a Typ 82 which is a late 70s model. Yours is a Typ85. God I sound like bstard and his Vauxhalls!

Thanks for the compliments.
I don't know the definition of the word "pimp", but someone gave me the car 5 years ago, and my mates christened it the "pimpmobile" because it is 70s styleeeeee.
I sold the car after 2 years, got an J reg Audi 100 quattro 2.3 (best sound in the world, especially with full stainless exhaust), then got a Golf Mk2 with a 2 litre TSR engine that went like stink. Then I bought this car back off ebay cos I wanted a 4 door car to get the nipper in and out of easily.
Now I am picking up the Sport on Saturday. Will post pics once I get it.
Cheers,
Steve

AHHHH Grayham80Sport from Audifans! What is the Cavalier all about? Don't you prefer the Audi? Much better built. My dad had Cavaliers same as yours (Y plate 1.6GLS, C plate 1.6L, then later shape F plate 2.0i, K plate 2.0i) and my Audi feels a lot better built. I know the Astra GTE16V motor is capable of 300bhp if tuned properly, but I prefer the VAG family of cars. I would bin the Cav and concentrate in the Audi. Lots of tuning possibilities, cos its the same engine as Golf Mk2, and the Golf boys have explored all tuning possibilities. 2.0 9B, 2.0 16V, 2.8 VR6, 1.8 8V G60, 1.8 16V G60, 1.8 20V turbo, 1.9 TDI ( ), 3.2 24V (R32 motor), then there are the Audi engines which you cold fit. 2.2 10V turbo, 2.2 20V turbo, 4.2 V8 (apparently there is one in Bristol somewhere) The wheels are OK, I prefer the Ronals, but these were 25 squid from ebay wth excellent Uniroyal tyres. Can't wait to pick up the 80 Sport tomorrow...... Cheers, Steve

Picked up the 80 Sport rally motor yesterday. It has had a few "incidents" with undergrowth etc, so the body is not as good as mine. It is now sat on a mate's drive a few miles away. Grand plan: Find a garage to rent nearby. Strip engine, gearbx, fuel lines and injection system take off brakes and suspension etc. Take off other useful bits. Scrap shell. Fetch my 80CL from Devon and fit above bits to it.
I got loads of spares too, so will be selling those in a few weeks time. Got 2 sets of those Weller 15" steel wheels......

Are those wide steels on the jumping pic? YOU NEED THOSE! ;D Got 2 sets. You want to buy a set? 15" 4x100. Going to keep the standard "cookie cutter" wheels to keep it looking proper. May get some Ronals later on. Winter project.
