:)hey everyone. new to the forum so i thought id put up some pics of my golf. Its just been painted and I'm in the middle of flatting on buffing. when i bought it last month: And this morning before i started wet sanding and buffing Its a GLS 1450cc auto model, which the golfmk1owners club says there were only around 200 imported. I will keep this thread updated as I refit everything to it.

Looking good! I hope you're gonna keep the slushbox? Welcome BTW. cheers for the comments, nice community here! Its coming along well. Whats a slushbox then? auto is it? anyway here are some pics from today after i finished wet sanding and farcia polishing. I wish i had taken some close-ups before i resprayed it as it was as patchy and rough as your grannys ! anyway heres todays effort. the paint finish is about 10 time better than it was when i bought it last month and I'm pleased with my first deccent respray. as for the towball, thats gonna be sold, Also it came with arches but i think ill leave them off. I'm hoping to get some replacement chrome for the side and sills. The grills missing the center chrome trim so ill do that if i come across any. I'm hoping to keep it original as possible, and dropped at least 60mm on some 14's. The interior currently stands at a wreck of a red carpet, very worn seat bolsters and tidy red door cards. does anyone know anywhere in south wales where i could get a reasonably priced retrim? i have a spare set of recaros waiting to be used . anyway theres plenty for me to get on with tomorow so there will be more pics sunday.

the jettas curse word lots of good spares on it for the cab though, i was hoping the doors were the same length as the door cards in it are mint, but the jetta doors are tiny, so anyone with a jetta looking for door cards, let me know the jetta badge is going on my ole mans vento, he doesnt know this yet ;D

uoloaded a few pics earlier.. another when i bought it shot and today. the cars about 95% back together. welded a new glass holder together so now the window goes up stright, only things like front door cards and rear number plate to go back on. Oh i also put a remote solnoid in the boot earlier too, quite simple to do in the golf compared to a polo ill have to smooth the lock and repaint it now .

Yea the single grill looks awsome cheers for that mate. its almost looking how i wanted front on... maybe a gti front panel splitter, Bullet mirrors, and dropped as far as it'll go without problems. Gonna remove that "thing" thats attached under my front bumper. Around the back the only thing I want to do, is smooth the lock hole, and tint the rear lights red. Also I'm currently watching a forth center cap on ebay another random shot got some good insurance quotes this week too! considering the first quote i found was £1000, I've now found one for half that so I'm quite happy. Just waiting until my current policy ends as my new quote is with someone else.

Nice Golf. Them Renault 19 rims, did you do anything about the centre bore size? VW are 57.1 and the Renault are 59.1 IIRC. I've got a set of Renault 5 Turbo rims to go on the Scirocco at some point and just wondering what to do about bore difference, ignore it or get some spigot rings?

thanks guys your comments encouraged me to swap the driveshaft today ready for the MOT, also removed the under bumper splitter, and have finished tidying all the electrics and getting them working. Only thing now is, the rev counter has a fit after anything over 4K but i can handle that in an auto 'tis always good to here good things, and I'm glad you like the colour scheme. if anyone has any opinions for an interior, feel free as I'm lost for what to do... to montythemole: The wheels were a bit harder to line up, but as the PCD is still 100 on the renaults too, theres no problems like throwing etc. I think you can find spigot rings for them if you didnt feel safe . I'm on the look out for something a little dishier though. ;D
