1994 Ford scorpio Lowrider...yes..really ;D
Bought the car a couple of years ago..as a saintly and simple 2.0 executive with a manual box. So many people have said "why didn't you get a Cosworth or a 12v V6?" Well...the V6s are no quicker than the 2.0 and you have to have an auto box, overall they're not bad cars, but then you have the 24v Cosworth which is plagued by a terrible autobox and bad camchain tensioners..plus not so great economy. Having had previously (in order of ownership)
a '75 chevy nova with a built 350 in it (8mpg)
a '82 mercedes 280e (18mpg according to figures)
a '80 buick regal 4.9 V8 (15mpg..slow as a very slow thing)
as lowriders (I am excluding the cheap and lovely dailies- 240 volvo- £62, astra 1.7 diesel estate- free, peugeot 205 1.8 diesel- free, carlton 2.0- £100!)
I wanted something with reasonable economy and a manual box so I could rag it when I wanted.
So the 2.0 it was. Owned by Ford to 100k miles it had plenty of history and (apparently) as it had a beige, sorry 'pumice' interior and a sunroof and passenger airbag it was quite rare..hmm...
SO I stuck some 14" wires on it, bagged it, had an alligator interior fitted and a white vinyl roof...ah lovely..
Got some pics of it then somewhere.
The next stage was to pull it all apart (and why not?) and paint the underside, replace loads of bolts with stainless, metalflake all the parts you don't see (but you know its been done!) and respray it.
SO with that done and an Engine driven compressor installed we were away...on the 3rd MoT attempt!!
All was good for the summer...then as these things go I wanted more....more lift, more speed of moves..move duration (baby)..
So the old girl came off the road again...I purchased some bigger (much bigger) valves and airline along with some shiny chrome tanks and huge lift (13") airbags. I had a plan..
Then I moved house...hmm
Now I'm finally pulling my finger out. The original plan was to have scuba tanks providing extra duration and pressure for the air system, however this has been shelved and I am now using nitrogen. It makes sense really. Kinda.
So thats kinda where I am at the mo...busting my guts trying to get it back on the road and bouncing more. It needs respraying as I'm not happy with the flake job I did (1st time) and I keep thinking about satin black with some more pinstriping..hmm..
Anyway..hello
