	Well after all that effort I popped to the VW show at Santa Pod. Never done any 1/4s before so got carried away and did 24 of them ;D Best time - 16.970 secs at 80.49mph. Had a real dilema as I kept crossing the line at 80ish which was either over revving in 3rd, or risk an extra gear change and go for fourth. Tried both and not sure which was faster in the end. 	'Roccos rule! The one with the Trumpets belongs to Paul, who was (and probably still is) the caretaker at the law college my brother went to in York. It worked out nicely for him as he's a huge Scirocco fan. Apparently it feels even faster than it looks

	Oh, and feel free to submit your time at www.aj-computing.co.uk/misc/quartermile Just looked at the videos, they are cool, I should do some! I would have thought if you are changing just before the line, it would be better to leave it in 3rd. Judging by the videos you still have a few revs to play with anyway? Even in second gear you don't seem to be pushing it? Also if you launch in the peak power band (i.e "on cam"), probably from about 3500, then you will get a much better start.

	Yep was launching at about 3000 - 3500. Chatted to Paul (guy with trumpets) and he said to not just boot it, but let it just start to get rolling then go and that seemed to help, less wheel spin more movement (did that on the later runs that I stopped videoing). After that it was just foot to the floor and take it into the red line, up a cog as quick as possible. In third at the end of the strip I was well out of the power band and at something a good way into the orangey bit and the rev gain were slowing off. Think maybe just a slighty higher profile tyre would sort the end bit out but obviously affect acceleration off the start. I was beating a lot of stuff until third gear, think a combination of the ratio and the weight. Was beating most of the Mk1 GTIs as presumabely I have more weight to get the traction, then about when I drop into third they'd steal it away, presumably as lighter. 	Wow! one of these was on my short list two years ago, still playing largely with auto trader but they were going for about 700 quid +/-! what a bargain, I'd rather have one of these than a golf. Corrado, v cool too, them were well outta budget.
