you need only two things in life: WD40 and duck tape. if it moves and it shouldn't use the duck tape, if it doesn't move but should then use the WD40. Genius!

Hey, welcome! Sounds like you have your priorities sorted- get her on the road and then sort out the little bits and bobs, a well proven approach! Looks like a really nice project, is she your daily (or going to be)?

No, his name is actually Dioimnc. Perfect plate. Although he did get bullied at schoo for having such a daft name.l.
Enough of the sillyness. Nice car. Are the bonnet pins purposeful? I.e is this some kind of rabid track beast?

thanks for the welcome guys!!!
the plan is for it to be a daily driver/track day car (i can't afford to have one car for each purpose, so a hybrid will have to do)
just finished fitting her with a BR Motorsport 5 pot block, shrick cams, ported head, bored out to 2.3, balanced bottom end etc etc
the shell came with lowered/stiffened springs and koni adjustables. i've fitted poly bushes all round too. bonnet pins were done by previous owner, and to be honest they do make life a little easier. took it for an mot last month and it failed on brakes and 'wobbly seats' so new pads, discs and reconed calipers all round. still trying to sort the seats out. the moment it passes the mot it'll be on the road!!!
and no unfortunately my name isn't dominic but was thinking of changing it to suit the car...

is that the one with the same KV engine? pretty much the same car except lack of 2 driveshafts, prop, and a couple of diffs makes it 200 kilos lighter!!! they're awesome cars, a lot quicker than the quattros. was tempted to buy one but i got bored of spinning up at wet junctions

Have we possibly spoken on the phone before about an ad/car/something for sale, I swear I spoke to someone who had like 4 quattros? Can't remember what was for sale or who was selling it though

jeeeeeesus - 44k, now thats low milage! The lowest milage car I own is my merc at 129.9k and the highest is the bm in the pic below at 197k! Alex, if I am not mistaken, your red quattro is just short or just over 200k and still pulls like a train- so much so it ate the latest clutch did it not??!! as for the 1.8GTi engines coupe - I just gave my brother the later shape (series 3) coupe with the 2.0ltr 8v engine and even in that much bigger heavier car is still shifts, so the coupe you have should go like stink I would think ;-)

.............. so the coupe you have should go like stink I would think ;-) Yeah heres hoping, the idea is to lose as much weight as possible from it - stripped out, lexan windows etc a set of steels, slap it on the floor and drive it hard ;D anyone know if the earlier coupe bumpers are a straight swap for the plastic ones currently on it? Sorry if i've hijacked the thread

The seat wobble comes from the plastic clips on the runners breaking up Easy to fix with these

Pretty sure you can just swap them over. I have a set of "big" bumpers off a 90, they fitted straight onto an 80 with small bumpers.

Yeah heres hoping, the idea is to lose as much weight as possible from it - stripped out, lexan windows etc a set of steels, slap it on the floor and drive it hard Don't forget the Audi/Passat 3A "bubble block" bottom end, (Series 3 cars) to go for 140bhp for between 50-200 quid. Same dimensions etc, just bolt on and enjoy. Lots of Mk2 Golf boys go for this. Or just stick in an Audi 6A 2.0 16V bottom end with a Golf GTI 16V (KR) head. 160bhp straight off. About £500. Or upto 200bhp with the right head work, cams, exhaust etc......... Then strip it!!!!! Steve
