I bought this clubby when I found that the lovely insurance companies wanted £2k to insure me on a Mk1 XR2 Once we decided it was going to be restored before using it we got it all stripped out and the paint off and then didn't do anything with it for a few months..... Anyhow Dad promises to get going with it once the night are warmer and then it will have new panels, de-seaming, an alloy tank in the boot, KN Jupiter alloys - 12x6s if the auction I'm watching goes my way, some tasteful but fat arches and a full colour change- what to I'm not yet decided, but at present I'm keen on an aubergine type colour, purple so dark it looks black. This is how the poor thing looks at present- I'll add more pics of how it came to us and the varying stages of how me turned a usable car into a pile of scrap later on.

As it came to us, bought off eBay, went to see it and the man said we may as well take it home with us, took a cheque, very trusting! I drove it, couldn't make it do above 40, Dad drove it home at 85, my trailing behind in his Fiesta not wanting to lose my driving licence. Got it home, hooved it, threw all the rubbish away including a bit of plywood with stick on carbon fibre stuff which was screwed in realised it was actually pretty decent underneath! Stripped off the checkered roof as it looked terrible! Paint was flat as a nit, and refused to be revived despite a power polish and T-cut. Got t all stripped out and I started the long and tedious and not finished job of paint stripping. Dad got the fun job of whipping out the angle ginder, taking off the seams and welding them up. Then I bought some new Heritage panels from Moss- reccomend them, great service- and Dad cut out the bad repairs on the boot floor and some more rust and that is how it is now. I keep buying things for it but buying another mini and the fact that Dad is resident mechanic to about 7 cars as well as working 12 hours a day means he doesn't get much of a break, but the clubby will not be forgotten, I'm having a year out before uni to make sure of it

Ah that's asbestos dad, 40 years in the motor trade makes you laugh in the face of health and safety. And that is a 4 car garage which at best holds 2 cars, the shell, a sit on mower we don't want and piles of junk; could easily get 6 minis in there ....

That's a top purchase there. I reckon the colour you want is British leyland Black tulip, pretty much fits your requirements and it's an old 1275GT colour. Nice!

Went to see another one yesterday that I'm hoping Dad will agree would be worth having, just gotta try and drag him there tonight and then raid the overdraft! Yeah I was thinking of black tulip but didn't know if it had ever been used on minis or not. Cheers.
