YAY stuff.
Well the MOT has expired now, so its final voyage (for the time being) was to the midlands meet.
now the "fun" begins, I have managed to borrow a digital camera to document the magic that will happen. i am terrible at taking pictures, and work very slowly so don't expect a lot of quick action with the car drastically changing, ala blownimp &racer 86. ..instead expect vague updates where nothing really appaears to have changed.
so today i have tried to drop the fuel tank and remove it, so i can keep it at a safe distance for my rampant grinding and welding spree that needs to happen.
i have dropped the tank, but not removed the fuel lines yet as 1)they are being a motherbugger and wont loosen off 2)it rained and i am not in enough of a hurry to get my car back on the road to spend my day lying in the rain.
i don't have a garage or a workshop (well i do but id rather work on the car at home as it means i'll get more done), i have a carport but that is full of an e30.
so in the courtyard the work must be done. great.
plans for the mot and general improving of the car are
:weld up the rust arround, reararches, bootpockets, sills, floorpan.
:remount the rear ARB
:put the speedocable back on and see if i can get the digital speedo to come back to life
:sort the emissions
:change the brake discs and pads
:reinstall a cdplayer. i have had a few cars now without anyform of musical entertainment, but despite haveing stripped this car out i fancy making it bareable for travelling long distances to drift events
:make a centre console out of ally to house cd player and a big starter button (keys are for sucka's
:shorten the throw of the gearlever and tighten it up as its like stirring a pudding
:try and get some better shock and spring combination to tighten up the handling
:*this one is only if i get all the other stuff done and feel motivated* sort out the diff and shim it some, to tighten it up and hopefully make it not curse word
so there yeh loads of stuff to be doing. i think if i pull my finger out its not all that bad it just seems a lot. but i have no job again so am on a restricted budget so i wont be throwing money away. and if it comes to it i'll just have to do the bareminimum for it to pass an MOT and thats it.
anyway curse word picture time.
the pictures were taken quickly as it was raining and don't really show anything specifically interesting, just to point out some curse word that needs sorting.
this oneabove i am sure was meant to show the remains of the inner arch and bootpocket and i think you can vaguely make out something jagged. eitherway yeh the theme of this one is ROT
the left side of the car, general theme being crappy arches.
where the magic and panic happens. look at my sexy steering wheel. which isnt on straight...must sort that. also visible is the very hugging but heavy brown seats. am looking to change these for a pair of lotus elise items..
right thats it. I'm off to stare out the window and wait for a dry spell so the frustration can continue
