I've just been to check over my latest purchase. This here '74 Carina TA12. Just the right amount of cosmetic rust, holes and faded paint to make the perfect Hood Ride. Underneath it's remarkable solid and it runs/drives like a dream. 60-odd thousand miles from new, with history. Only two previous owners, both of whom live in the same road! It will be slammed, natch That is all.

Brilliant! Now I am getting excited about mine, good job too cos I was starting to have those 'what the fµ<k did I agree to buy that old heap for' type thoughts!!!
I think mine is a TA14 but I don't know the difference, looks pretty similar to this one.

I gather that the differences between the TA12 and the TA14 are minor. Slightly longer wings (?) and slightly different (better) interior. I have also been offered another cheap TA12 Carina, suitable as a spares car.

MEGA!!!!
Ace re-homing skillz. I thought that was gonna end up on the dirt oval for sure. Love the bizarre styling touches on this generation of Carina's.
87.328/10. Well done.

Dude you're getting quite a collection!! ... how do you know which one to drive... it's not like you can go out and go "I think I'll drive my cool car today" .. you'd still be just as lost as to which to drive

Well done, another great car! You've always got the option of sticking your new Lotus rims on this. Some Celica running gear under there would surpise a few people.

Cool motor - will look good with original paint, polished chrome, lowered on some period alloys

If only everything in life was as cool as a retro VW racer.

That's just what I was thinking I suppose I could experiment with them on the Datsun and the Carina and see which they look better on. Don't put ideas into my head, I'm very impressionable and easily swayed into spending my (Barclaycard's) money on unnecessary items ;D LOL. I just drive whichever has petrol in, or whichever hasn't been boxed in by the neighbours. The Ascona always comes out for long journeys though. It's the only one with a 5-speed box. I'm actually trying to come up with 'real' uses for them so that I can justify keeping them all; long distance tourer, town car, dog transporter, etc. It's the only way I can get it past Misses Daz ;D

I was trying to think of one of your listed motors that I don't want to steal... But nah, I want them all. This is just the rusty brown icing on a multi-tiered cake of glory

I have really caught the bug. I knew buying the Datsun would prove to be the first step towards financial ruin via continual J-tin purchasing! Must-stay-away-from-ebay............But it's so hard to resist.

I was going to bring the Ascona to C.A.R.S. then I was going to take it off the road for, ahem, upgrades, now I'm going to leave the upgrades until after C.A.R.S. But I might get a trailer and bring two cars. Initial thoughts; Carina and Ascona. My bit of rough and my neat & tidy :-)
Mr_B, You are welcome to pop round my gaff for tea and biscuits when you're in town. I'm just a short hop down the A500, about 12 miles from Crewe. Remind me closer to your visit and I'll PM you my address.
