Hey Folks,
I've been reading this forum for a few months now and thought it was time to join!
I know it isnt exactly very retro, but it's as close as I can get living in Ireland (I cant get insured on anything older than 15years old at the moment).
I bought it back in August 2005. Travelled to the UK to buy it, and it was as good as the pictures suggested! 38500 miles, 2 lady owners and 99% rust free.
Here she is as I bought her:
As soon as I got her home, I swapped the interior for a half leather one, fitted a temporary dash and some old alloys I had about the place.
Unfortunately, the wheels rubbed and stuck out from the arches and I didnt want to cut into the body so out went the wheels!
Very little happened to the car until January 06 (due to cash flow and insurance problems) and I finally got insured on her! I'm still ironing out minor niggling issues, but she runs well and is nippy enough.
I don't have many recent pics, but here's how she looked last week, filthy I know! The wheels will be sprayed black in the centre just like the wheels above!
Spec at the moment:
Mini Mayfair 1275cc with 39600 miles
New engine steady bushes
New subby mounts
New thermostat
New Front knuckle joints
Half leather seats
Black Cord rear seats
Black dash rails
Black door cards
Red Dash
Chrome door furniture
JVC Head unit
Infinity Components
Clear side repeaters
Tailored Mini cover
Angel Eyes
Minisport heated inlet manifold
Maniflow LCB
RC40 twin box exhaust
12" Cooper alloys with yoko A539s
Front Hi-los
Stuff I have that I'm still to fit:
sump guard
Steering drop bracket
Alpine V12 amp & Wiring Kit
Sub
Pair of rover Spots (unsure about this!)
Ultimate head steady
competition tie rods
Walnut Dash
Clear front indicators
Custom rear lights (not sure how they'll look!)
KYB shocks (in post)
K&N element (in post)
Future plans:
Green/black stuff pads
Rear hi-los
Boot board
Soundproofing
black carpet
New cones
New balljoints
It has the irish equivalent of the MOT next month, so it might be an expensive month!!
I'll have some better pics soon hopefully - the weather is awful at the moment!!
