Actually keeping this one. ;D
Gonna be the daily drive. Its got a custom brake servo conversion, braided hoses, running full mk3 suspension, fuel tank, handbrake setup, GT rear axle, passat GT dials, G40 interior and will have a full mk3 GT multi point engine when I get the donor car hopefully this week. Put the rear axle on and lowered the back of it today. Thought it sat a bit low, only supposed to be 50mm or so, thought the shocks where bolloxed at first! Should be a nippy enough runabout when the engines in. ;D
Think I'm going to keep my 6+7 compos, paint them black, n get them on the car. The paint on roof and bonnet are especially unhealthy, so I was thinking of painting them black along with the inside bit of the tailgate (like mk1 golf gtis) Just as a temporary thing untill I get a new paint job.
Weill get some more pics when the fronts been lowered. Its got no engine at the mo hence the static rwd drag racer stance
This is my mk3, I picked up a crashed G40 for £300, in the process of reshelling it in this mk3. Just lowered and polybushed it, needs to settle though. Will have everything from the g40 put on it. Only plans for it is to get the engine and rest of the bits on. Have another pair of those 8" wide compos, they are going on the front. Can never have enough dish. ;D
Before taking the 1.0l engine out of the mk3, we thought we'd see how much abuse the engine could take. So my mate sprayed NOS down the intake, and it loved it, untill it spat a flame back at him. We disconnected all the breathers, fan, drained the coolant, put a couple washers, few coins, oil, water, some soil, and a few other things down the intake, while bouncing it off the limiter of course. It took a good 2/3 hours of pure abuse. The whole time with the temp way of the gauge. Cut the cambelt, put a few rocks in there, etc etc etc. Basically it still works, and drives fine. Couldnt believe it!
Heres a vid of some of the abuse.
It did start to smoke a little bit after a small while, but it still refused to die. It was disapointing to be honest, but at the same time reassuring when it fired up and idled fine when we got bored of abusing it.
