Seeing that there's been some interest in my old Rekord thread, it's a good time to introduce my latest retro ride. I need another car like a hole in the head, but I couldn't resist this one at £102 with 3 months MOT. One elderly female owner since 1990 but no history, so I can't tell if the 68,000 on the clock is genuine. The 2.5 straight six starts on the button and revs well, but the clutch has had it - hence the price. Made for an interesting drive back to Newbury from Sutton yesterday, but as long as you don't give it too much juice it's OK. As you can see, it cleaned up pretty well (these photos taken after a good 5hr cleaning and polishing sesh) - the paintwork's really good, but it has a number of carpark dents down the nearside and the front bumper has taken a thump at some point as it is cracked clean through under the driver's side headlight. There's a big dent in the nearside front wing under the bumper as well, plus numerous scrapes. Old people eh? Plus the usual rust in the rear arches. No sign of any previous welding though. And only a bit of surface scabbing round the strut tops. Result! Mmm...dark brown crushed velour. Very comfy. Seats are unmarked. Headlining was grubby, but has cleaned up well. Sunroof works! Faults: - Front passenger and rear driver's side electric window don't work - Heater fan dead (on all of the settings - I've checked the fuse too) - Central locking only works from passenger door Anyway, plan is to fit the new clutch (£15 off eBay) in a couple of weeks, rectify as many faults as possible, try to straighten out the bumper, and then get out there and enjoy it. Oh, and get my Belmont finished so this can take up rightful residence in the garage...

And only a bit of surface scabbing round the strut tops. Result! Thats the Killer if it's OK there wooo hooo Faults: - Heater fan dead (on all of the settings - I've checked the fuse too) The ABS have now remanufactured copies of the original TWOMAS plug and play fan pack [- Central locking only works from passenger door Easy fix - my Monza was the same - it's just adjustment required

Hi Ian, wouldn't you just believe it - tore up my Autobahnstormers membership renewal then a week later I buy another eligible car ;D Hopefully this one will be at Billing - I was there last year on the Saturday with my gold Rekord, next to Graham's blue LC rep and Phil Metcalfe's Senator, we drove up in convoy from the M40! Who do I need to speak to to get hold of a TWOMAS fan copy? D'you think it will fix the problem even though mine has no speeds working at all? Mine is a non-aircon car, I don't have to take the dash out do I? Cheers Richard

Hi Ian, wouldn't you just believe it - tore up my Autobahnstormers membership renewal then a week later I buy another eligible car ;D Well that was daft!!!! Hopefully this one will be at Billing - I was there last year on the Saturday with my gold Rekord, next to Graham's blue LC rep and Phil Metcalfe's Senator, we drove up in convoy from the M40! Yeah I saw that - I was in the Monza (Tucked right out of the way cos it was stuffed full of parts) ;D Who do I need to speak to to get hold of a TWOMAS fan copy? D'you think it will fix the problem even though mine has no speeds working at all? Mine is a non-aircon car, I don't have to take the dash out do I? I've got a spare one I could sell you from the first batch made Yes it will fix your problem 99.9% certain and it only fits non aircon cars Nope it needs to be fitted in the scuttle panel!!! PS I have a fully refurbished Alloy wheel and centre cap if one of yours has kerbing damage or you fancy a shiney one as a spare for shows!!!!

Richard
No chance you can get to South Mimms on Sunday is there...... ABS Club Meeting
I'll be there and I can fit the TWOMAS module in the car park - that way you know it will work and if it doesn't you won't have to pay anything for it....
Plus added bonus free offer a senny 14 inch star of david wheel comes free - it's been in my garage for 8 years now and you are the only person I know with a Senny A

I will bring it to RCS. As for a photoshoot with the Belmont, once the rear arches are finished (welded in, just need the skim of filler sanded down and then priming and spraying), I'll get photos up of the 1987 Vauxhall Roadshow!

Nice one RW! Was a bit worried when you flogged the blue Rekord last year, but with the Belmont and now this you've more than made up for it.
