let me know what u think boys and girls. the nova is pushing out about 300brake, cams, intercooler and phase3 chip, 2.5'' system, turbo brakes grooved with red stuff. coilovers, carbon bonnet, perspex, leather.etc. kadett is a '77 1.2 special saloon wiv 40k on it, pretty much standard for now apart from being lowered on some old skool 15'' tsw's, think the turbo motor is gonna be put into this, any info on this conversion? ive got a manta sump and box, chevette hs axle, need mounts and clutch. cheers

whay hey buddy, you gotta put the turbo in the det' coz you scared the curse word out of me in the nova, i not too shure if 299 ponies and one donkey is a good combination in an old nova brown !!!!!
ill try not to forget the camera

Hmm, we've got one school of thought calling it the 'kad' and another calling it the 'det'. Which is actually the correct end of the word to use?
Cool car anyway, a 300 bhp nova sounds terrifying!
If you've got a manta (must be 1.8) sump and box, you're half way there, use your existing clutch and simply manufacture some suitable mounts (or modify manta/carlton ohc ones).

superb, i love kadetts and want one lots. That nova must be nothing short of unbelivable to drive especially in the wet! As far as i know the 1800 manta engine mounts should bolt straight up too, id go for a manta A axle as a HS one will be expensive and rare, and they are the same (ish) any more pics of both cars?

Hi,
Yeah , same surprise about the nova here; i bet its an animal with 300 horses going through the wheels! Good luck with the kadett, Its gonna be well cool, well already is but must feel damned slow after razzing the Nova about!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

without an lsd the nova is not very drivable unless its bone dry, it span changing into 5th at about 110 last week in the wet, emberassed an evo7 fq300 before it was chipped, imprezzas and a tvr cerbera (is that how u spell it?) etc, good to still have the black bumpers too, no-one expects it apart from the intercooler. gettin the kadett's body finished before i start the transplant tho

id just like ensure everone that the nova is very scary indeed. i know i was oohin n' arrrin whenyou told us but thinking about it- i think the kadett will handel the power better as long as you don't change the blower for somthing thats gonna be laggy! you defo don't want mr2 sindrome!

If you've got a manta (must be 1.8) sump and box, you're half way there, use your existing clutch and simply manufacture some suitable mounts (or modify manta/carlton ohc ones). I was thinking about this recently, as I was reading something about the Carlton with what I thought was basically the same 1.8 engine - can't you use a sump and 'box off one of them instead, or have all the old Carlton 1.8's disappeared?

The Carlton/Rekord unit would foul the front crossmember. The sump is rotated 180 degrees compared to the manta unit.
As for the 'box, its identical to the one found in 1.8 mantas, but you'll have to shorten the gear linkage.
