Been reading this site for a while, thought about time I posted up my baby (now sadly sold as we're moving house). Been after a Mk1 Golf for ages, found this 1.3 on ebay, not pretty but with MOT and sound: Took the bodykit off to find it have been glued on with araldite so had to scrape it all away and primer it up: So then I got the paint to match the colour code and resprayed the first wing, stood back and realised the whole car had been resprayed a slightly different blue so didn't match! So then I went for the rat look, Matt Black, debadged single lamp grille, smoother the wiper and aerial: Finally fitted GTI rims, dropped it, webber carb and tooled around in it until the MOT ran out and decided to sell it before we move house. How she was when I said goodbye: Sad to see her go but went to a good home and even made a few £ out of her.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

Very cool, and well done that man for saving it from virtually the point of no return judging by that pictures at the top.

Very cool, and well done that man for saving it from virtually the point of no return judging by that pictures at the top. Ta, I did wonder what I'd done when I pulled the old kit off and had to chisel the glue away! I also did a bit on the inside, smooth door cards and was trying to get better seats (original were mouldy and stank) but these were the best I came across: Also stripped the rear and sheeted it: When I was trying to sell it I was offered a swap for this and was very tempted, Mk1 Fiesta, stripped interior, only a 1.1 but potential for easy XR2 swap. Once I'm moved and done with the bathrooms, kitchen etc I'll get another project. Fancy something unusual but have to balance parts availability and cost against it. Might get a Manta as always fancied one as a kid, or a Mk1 Polo.

Folk who araldite bodykits on should be imprisoned indefinitely without possibility of appeal. And what if they used PK screws directly into the wing to hold it until the glue sets? Then topped it off by filling the joing on the kit with filler and leaving it approximately 2cm higher than the kit and lumpy? It was a real good bit of work! The wonder of ebay eh, if I'd past it in the street I'd have laughed, seeing it on the PC I though "hmm potential"!

what did you do with the body kit? you know how much it is worth.....

Yep the plan was to sell the kit but on closer look it was a replica of the clipper kit and a bad one at that, didn't remotely fit the car hence the glue so I took great pleasure in skipping it!
