ahright folks am new here said high on chat page heres a couple of me motors! she was my first car when i was 17 and had her since, been through many phases, nothin special but now a toy for knockhill. back when she was on the road, not much changed since really, just black bonnet n no interior with buckets n harnesses. the important bit is this: the powerplant 1800 zetec running my custom inlet and single carb setup with 2L cams and a 4branch exhaust with ashley straight-through ;D oh and a 4 speed box. fun and keeps up with XE powered novas! a cheeky vid from day i got her runnin!! ignore focus rims was wating on tyres!! media.putfile.com/video-003233and i tow her with the me van: will try and get pics of the anglia and 'tina up after crimbo will need to upload em, but i know use will all be into em more!!!!!!! ;D ;D

I had one of those Mk4's once.
Worst car I've ever had. Utterly Foul.
That said, it did have a turd 1300 hcs engine, not a spangly zetec.

yeah i ran 2 different 13 chappers but 65 horses and reving to 4k max isnt any use for pushing vauxhalls round the track!! a pic of engine bay: don't get me wrong for runabout purposes, fuel economy the hcs is the bomb!

I fancied doing the same thing with mine, but i never could find out what jets people use yeah mate earlt squaretop xr2 carb, it done bout 300 miles before i got it!!! just runnin the standard jets at the mo n seem to go good, however flat out in 4th i do loose some power to underfueling at times so will play bout with that next year!! need to make a change to water piping too!

Kool nicely modded inlet manifold ;D I might have a pop at throwing in a zetec and running it off the standard carb too then Some people are using the DGAV from the grannys and capris, but they're getting a bit hard to source Whats your water pipe prob? Does she overheat?

i originally was gona run water through inlet so i have plumbing for that but decided didnt need it, so it kinda goes the long way for a shortcut. just needs a redesign as i think i can make it better!!
u shoiuld go for it mate, zetecs get a lot of bad press but i thot il give it a bash and well chuffed!!
keepin uo with 2L 16v novas = a smile on my face!!
if u need any info mate on changes just give me a holler more than happy to help!!

you say it uses an XR2 carb. I presume you had it re-jetted for an 1800 If not, it'll be running pretty lean which might cause your over heating problem

Yeah thats true i do, but I'm thinking its gonna cost big money in jets for the 40's to set them up for the zetec...... the jets alone for the CVH cost £150 I figured it would be cheaper to sell the CVH with its 40's and do a cheap XR2 carbed zetec...... Now i don't know what to do really....... I'm so easily swayed!

I'll let you know how i get on if i decide to go the zetec route yeah its the DIS ignition u need mate, just a module. luckily my scort started life as a 1300 hcs with that ignition so it was all there. little update weve just bought a 3door shell with konis all round and driled n grooved discs, green stuff pads, piper exhaust, and turbo rims for cheap from my mate, Zetec is now in that!!! ;D

me dad bought a new shell for the track so we filled the gap between xmas n new year with switching the zetec in, heres some pics of new shell... -konis all round -green stuff pads n red dot drilled/grooved discs -turbo rims -piper zorst + zetec power!! to come: -oil cooler -bigger jets -more fastness
