Driver is standard I'm afraid.......Just pased 150,000 miles but running very well and in very good nick. The owner before me was fanatical, every reciept, MOT, Tax disk, even original bill of sale. Recently put a weber carb conversion on it - sorted the old Pierburg choke problems. Got some 40mm lower springs for it (not fitted yet) but it will otherwise stay as is.

Welcome to the forum - very nice Driver..... One request though - can you update the subject for this thread so that it follows 'The Rules' (one less for me to alter during the Christmas period!) Cheers,

Thats looking really good! You cant beat a bit of Mars red. Are you going for a larger engine, or sticking with original?

Thanks, I am converting the 1.3 Driver to full GTI spec using a 1981 1600cc GTI donor car, so everything needs to be changed over, fuel tank, rear axel, fuel lines, fuel pump accumulator, steering rack and wiring loom.
Not too much left to do, just the engine / 'box and wiring loom.

Good work - keep the pics coming, nice to see another MK1 being saved ;D. Reminds me of my mates old Xreg 1.6 GTI 5 speed which was also mars red!

Thanks for the comments lads hairnet600, engine and 'box are for sale, but I'm in Northern Ireland so reckon postage would be expensive to UK..

Both cars look excellent, Mk1 should be particularly mint when finished!

Thanks for the comments guys, 2 years hard work, but worth it in the end.
Gonna be a rolling project, over the years hope to get the interior sorted and a fruity engine, but for now just enjoyin' it!

Both Golfs look brilliant! Love the Mk1. I'm from Northern Ireland too! Love that road around spelga, so many twisties and the magnetic hill!
