Picked this up for £180, 92,000 miles on the clock and a bit of T&T. I plan to use it as my daily replacing my now deceased Golf.
I wanted a Classic as they are a bit obscure, honestly, who buys the saloon verion of a practical hatchback!
Was pretty shabby when I first got it...
...but came up well after a couple of days buffing and getntle use of a heat gun to remove all the vinyl. The bootlid had been resprayed at some point in its past and had faded badly and didn`t responded well to any kind of cutting back or polishing so I chequered it!
Original paint...
Guide coat for flatting back...
Flatted back...
Primer...
some matt black, a roll of vinyl and some stickers...
I'm pretty happy with the results considering I have never painted anything this big before and I used spray cans. I used about £4 worth of white vinyl from Homebase for the squares, all cut out by hand too!)
I've binned the wheel trims for now and am in the process of collecting together some 14" 14 hole Golf steels. Should look sweet as painted up gloss black with some 195/45s, the arches could do with some winter protection too.
Replaced a couple of bit for the MoT recently, front brake hoses, rear wheel cylinders, and these manky front ARB bushes...
The next job is to lop a few coils off those springs!
