Hi this is the latest addition to my cars (other being an 89 mini, thread to follow when it gets back from spray shop) its a V8 land rover 90 with a fair amount of off-road kit on it, big tyres, roll cage, tank guard, prop guard, etc etc, this is as i bought the beast: Since then i have been on a mission to remove the blue, before the planned respray in black with orange roll cage first thing to go was the a-bar with spots and the bumber was repainted black, after the respray i am going to put a few more personal touches to it including painting the panel section of the van with blackboard paint (easy for numbers and messages) a hammock bolted to the rollcage a 3rd seat in the back with a selection of offroad toolsand possibly a freelander high level brake lamp any ideas warmly welcomed! cheers Reuben

Hey welcome to the forum! Cool Landie. A friend of mine has got one, I'd never really had much to do with them before that. I love the way everything unbolts I like the blackboard paint idea!

Hi thanks for the comments, yes it is the rover v8 (sounds better than the diesel!)i believe its from a discovery, with twin su's around 180bhp lots of torque don't have the exact figures at the moment also with mintec raised exhaust system and twin kenlowe fans, also has all round disks which at some point will be modified with a control unit enabling it to turn pretty much on the spot!, external cage prevented me from bending all of the roof, side and doors only two days after i bought the thing.

Early discos and factory built 90 v8s i beleive where carb? (is this a factory v8 or a home grown creation?) - infact i don't think that many rover v8s where injection compared to carb.
But yea, all landy are injection now...
Ill have to pop round and see it soon mate!! looks good - need to loose that blue tho!!

yes many rover v8's where injection (or the later ones 1991 on for normal landys and discos 84 on i think for range rovers) although all range rover carb engines where strongberg this has su's therefore i think it is off of a discovery, it is home grown having been changed from the 2.1/4 petrol a couple of years ago, and the blue is going, the second i remove the roll cage so that can be painted nicely too. cheers Reuben

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

urm, plans taking place when there are the least events on so maybe even over the christmas break, so if i can get the kit i need it could start as early as next friday, an awful lot of prep needed though as there are many battle scars, not to mention the dulux emulsion brush paint job! luckily though no rust.

Nice, nice, nice!!! Stunning landy fella! I want to get the V8 dropped in mine ASAP! Bet it shifts for a big brute aswell! Future ideas, I want to fit a 2" lift kit, cab back, spots on the roof and a set of these: that and the V8 should do just nicely, but I'm leaving mine battle scarred ;D

v8 is a very nice engine! what have you got in now? it is pretty quick on the uptake seriously lacking on top end though, a 2" lift and roof spots also on my shopping list i like those wheels!, mine is going to be battle scarred, some of the dents are to big to fill!

The current mill in the 90 is the 2.5 TD 19J unit, in a tractory sort of way I kinda like it, but the V8 would be so much better!
I've heard using Range Rover diffs are the way to go to decrease engine revs at speed, I'm changing the rear axle for a Range Rover disc brake axle anyway to increase the stoppers, and also because the diff is getting a little sickly! I can't remember what the ratio is, but it is a little higher than the 90 items.
God, I love my mini, but I want to get behind the wheel of big 'yin again! ;D

the disks on the back make a lot of difference to the brakes, i am pretty sure the back axle from mine is from a discovery, which where on disks, the v8 gives huge power the difference is amazing, if you get a good one that is!
