Time to present you my beloved wreck...
Citroen BX, facelift model, built in April 1990. It is the basic BX14 model, bought from its first owner in July 2004, with the intention of installing a Mi16 and terrorising hot hatch owners...
Of course funds didn't allow me to perform the conversion (as always happens with my projects), so I ended up using the car in standard form for a year, patiently saving money for an engine transplant.
Last September I had the necessary funds and had found a really nice NFW (Rallye 1.6 8v) engine, and was ready to install it when... Well, when I received a letter of acceptance by the University of Malta... So the project was once again postponed, probably ad infinitum, and I moved to Malta to start my course...
The car is currently with me in Malta, enjoying the sunny weather and suffering from a nasty clutch slip... I will probably have it repaired soon, but the amount of classic and retro cars for sale on the island is quite tempting...
Here are some pictures...
1. The car waiting at the track entrance, at a track day event... Yes, I did take the BX to a track day and yes, it was fun !
The smile on the driver's face is not connected to the car's performance... It's just that it was really funny queuing next to Evo's, M3's and the like...
The front bumper has now been repaired and the bonnet resprayed... It still looks like wibblepoo, though ;D ;D ;D
2. The car in action... You can't imagine how safe kerbing felt thanks to the hydropneumatic suspension... Lap times were... well... bad.
The right side is indeed a different colour to the rest of the car... A full respray is somewhere at the bottom of the long "to-do" list...
3. Dyno diagram... 10HP less than factory power was quite a shock, since the car only had 120.000km and a full service history... The cause was later traced to 8 degrees less ignition advance... The car should currently be around 75HP.
