Ok, you've probably all seen it by now but I've been a little bit lax about getting round to starting a thread dedicated to it. I imported it from Germany on 31st October this year. Specs are as follows; 2.0 GT/E engine and 5-speed Getrag 240 'box, Lexmaul ram intake manifold, Lexmaul 4-branch exhaust manifold, Lexmaul/Supersprint exhaust, 3.44:1 final drive, Lowered lots on very stiff suspension, BBS RM 7.5x15" alloy wheels, Carlton 2.2 brakes, Momo steering wheel, Ascona 400 seats, 2.0 SR instruments, dash and interior trim. It is in beautiful condition, having never been welded and still has mostly original paint. I have plans aplenty, but I will keep this thread updated as and when I implement them. I don't have any new pics of it yet, so I will just regurgitate the old ones

How's the Kadett project coming on? Made any progress yet or is it on the back burner for now?

How's the Kadett project coming on? Made any progress yet or is it on the back burner for now? We havnt touched it for months Its such a big project (for me) its abit dawnting, plus we don't have a workshop or anything, just a standard sized garage, which in this weather is abit rough! Have toyed with the idea of selling, but then I see cars like yours and change my mind again!

Probably the best car on here, those seats rock harder than Ozzy Osbourne after a night on the tiles too.

I'm afraid I haven't got anything to say that you don't already know. But here it is: THAT CAR IS FANTASTIC! And it has the coolest seats I've ever seen.

Not any more! Note 1 to self; when car starts to misfire due to a blocked injector, don't think 'fcuk it' and continue to drive another 40 or 50 miles to home. It damages the engine! Note 2 to self; don't run out of petrol! It causes debris to be sucked up from the bottom of the fuel tank, blocking the fuel injectors and potentially causing more serious problems (see note 1, above). Silly boy Lost compression on no1 cyl. I need to take the head off to investigate, but I've got too much on at the moment. Next week sometime hopefully. Suspect a burnt out valve. Not to worry, I have a 2.2 cyl head in the garage. These have larger valves and superior ports. I'm tempted to drop the entire 2.2 engine in, but I'd rather give it a quick rebuild first.

2.2 is hardly worth breaking the spanners out for unless I have to. I want a 2.4 minimum if I keep to CIH engines. I'm quite tempted to go for some cross breeding. XEs have been done to death and the parts for the conversion are now ridiculously overpriced. About 10-15 years ago there used to be a Mk1 Cavalier Coupe locally, with a Fiat twink in it. That was interesting. I may even look towards Volvo for a powerplant, or maybe a VW 20v turbo. Just bouncing ideas around at the moment. I will probably plumb for a big capacity CIH in the end. Can't do anything yet though, I'm brassic

You could keep it vaugely the same,.. I remember reading an article about a guy with a 3 litre Vectra. He dropped in the Cadillac V6 that was used in the equivilent model in the states... So if you can fit an XE,... it follows you should be able to fit the caddy V6??

Googling for 'NorthStar' just turned up a cracker...I'm off to start a thread!*

Interesting ideas. I would prefer to keep it 4-pot. I don't want to adversely effect the car's handling. They are pretty good and it would be a shame to compromise it.

Only one way to go if your staying 4 pot ;D Honda S2000 engine and Box 240hp Standard with 10,000 mile service intervals and redline at 9.5k ;D If its a keeper it`d be rude not to

I have considered the S2000 unit. The problem is ££££ Probably gonna keep it 4-pot CIH but go big capacity (2.5 or possibly 2.7). Purely because I have a few tuning goodies for the CIH already. I know that's boring but........well, we'll see what the future brings.
