Thanks guys. The car has to be kept easily driveable so no lumpy idle or harsh ride that will annoy it's owner, my girlfriend. Any suggested upgrade routes are appreciated, and also someone to do the lowering.

I'm sure some of the more experience Datsun-folk can advise on an upgrade route. I wouldn't do too much to it personally as it is in lovely condition by the looks of the photos.

Welcome to the Forum Phil, good to see you on here! Those rear leafs will be easy to lower, you can get escort lowering blocks for those, and the fronts would simply require new springs - or an angle grinder  ....or there are companies who will do the springs for you properly and it won't cost the earth. Thanks datsuncherry-useful information. The 160Z wheels would be great, or maybe some old 240/260Z. Actually spotted a 160Z out in South Africa recently, got loads of photos of it. That was what first caught the girlfriend's eye fr the B210.

Wow, welcome in phil73 looks great and i specially like the modded ones, and as mr B said Krazy wheeltrims. They are horrible=love em! My dad had on buy to sell also yellow when i was 12-13 i think he wanted 100 quid for it, i wanted it to go offroading in and to muckaround inside. i'm sure i nearly got it for xmas. but he was wise, it'd be knackered by now if i'd got it, then again its probably a tin can now anyway. Keep us all posted |

cool cars, plenty of potential. don't know about availability but finding some Sunny Excellent model parts in Japan (the one with the silver rear garnish and round taillights) would be a good start to having something different. a pic for motivation:  cheers Matt |

A big thumbs up from me too! As said above, it looks great with those wheel trims but the stance is improved so much with some alloys. Don't think you need to do anything else myself, the coupe looks mad enough as it is!
You run 13" wheels at present as your's is a late model one. Wheels off a 240Z will be 14" and will need low profile tyres. The would also have a fair bit more offset, so you might just struggle with them in the arches. I think most people today would stick with 13's, see the PCD database on this site to work out what other cars you should be looking at then scour eBay.
In theory, you could fit the bigger A14 or even A15 engine from the later Sunny, although I'm not sure if these are a straight swap (early and late B210s have some differences, and I can't remember which takes the B310 set-up). That'll keep you within the cheap tax band too! Some of these come with 5-speed gearbox, which would be a cool upgrade, and all very drivable as it's standard stuff.
Some Japanese/South African models came with the bigger L-series engine, but that had the nose stretched slightly and it's a heavier engine so not really a straight swap. Later Silvia turbo engines can be fitted, but from the sound of it not really what you want.
Anyway, great car! Hope you enjoy your time here and find it as useful as I do.

rxtoy: oh yes, the Sunny Excellent lights would be great, but pretty much zero chance, although some yards in SA are keeping an eye out for me should a 140/160Z go to scrap (not that many cars ever do down there.)
spottedlaurel: very helpful info. The guys I spoke to at a local wheel shop we're a bit cowboyish to say the least and made little reference to the particularities of sizing.

Thats a cracking car, well cool. I have a set of 14" minilites, which are shod with low profile 185/55/14 rubber. Alloys and tires have done less than 1000 miles .PM if interested |

A mate's sister had one just like that right down to those wheel trims except hers was metallic brown. It went the way of most 70's Datsuns to the big car park in the sky after I spotted the inner wing had collapsed and was resting against the brake master cylinder  |
