I'm still learning about tigers myself, from what i gather it was designed as a homologation special (mainly for rallying) but was always second best to the works escorts. Later they developed a 16 valve BRM version which was rated at 205 bhp and these are seriously rare (if any exist at all). From what ive read a standard Tiger is faster than a Mk1 Escort Mexico and handles better than an RS 2000. Ive got one or two problems with electrics and the Carb/ignition setup at the mo but its still great to drive. don't worry BGT i'll have it fighting fit for RCS next year

Only 12 left? With yours and Mine that only means 10 to find then Although this is probably one of those ones that DVLA reckon have been scrapped, Its been sitting as a Project for the last 15 years atleast. Just got too many cars and not enough time.

Its been 3 years since I saw it last and even then its hiding under another Pile of Avenger parts we stripped to help the restoration. I'll hunt out the Registration and details see what the registrar can turn up with, perhaps this is No 13.

I'm still learning about tigers. Is yours a mk1 or mk2? If you've got spares to sell I'm on the lookout for interior trim. The guy that gave me the information on the number of cars left was from the DVLA. 104ZS left his e=mail address a few weeks ago. Mu'azu.Aguye@dft.gsi.gov.uk

Hi
I'm new to this Retro-Rides forum, so hello to you all.
I'm the Avenger Tiger registrar for the A.S.O.C. something I've done for about 18 years. Just to let you know I have on record that approx. some 50+ Avenger Tigers are still around, about 30 I think are in the A.S.O.C alone and that's only the ones I know of so the number could be higher. I own a MK1 which is under going a nut and bolt restoration and MK11 race car which needs a full resto. If I could work out how to post pictures of them I would.

There's one quite local to me. I remember seeing it driving 'round when I was a boy. It had some really cool tiger stripes, not original I know, but they looked cool. It was in a sorry state last time I saw it, about three or four years ago. I canvassed him to see if he would sell it but he wouldn't. I got the impression that he was tired of people asking. I can understand that, I used to get it loads with my old Ascona. It's already started with my new one!
I drove by where he used to keep it a few months back. He's now built a garage so hopefully the Tiger is undergoing a restoration. I'd love to see it running around again.

Ive been thinking about this 12 cars remaining on the DVLA register business and I think that some cars may not have "Tiger" on the log book due to the cars being built and converted to Tiger spec later Does this sound resonable? Looking forward to seeing pics of your car.

Yes lots of Avenger Tiger's were never registered with 'Tiger' on the log book, it's common for them to be registered as Super, Basic and twin axle rigid body, I once owned a MK11 Wardance Red one about 12 years ago that said 'Avenger 1500 Super Auto' strange when the base car for the MK11 was a GL! A lot of past owners of these cars have actually had the model name changed by the DVLA so it reads 'Tiger' on the log book.
Love those pictures of your motor, I just wish I had mine back so I could start putting it back together for next year.

Awesome looking ride dude. Were you at Himley Hall last Sunday? There were 2 tigers parked right opposite me (I was on the Porsche 924 stand). Sounded the business too.

Thanks, no it wasn’t me at Himley but it sound like I missed a good show. This thread resurrection has reminded me that I haven’t updated this thread for a while so here goes. In the last year I’ve mainly tried to improve what I already have. The car had been rebuilt some time before I bought it and some bits weren’t screwed together too well. First of I stripped the interior and refitted the dash replacing the missing screws. I ditched the knackered old sunbeam seats and replaced them with new cobra buckets. So far, mechanically I’ve spend time trying to rebuild the front suspension struts playing with different spring lengths and poundages. I’ve now got hold of a pair of Bilsteins from a Sunbeam Lotus that will be fitted shortly. The engine is still far from perfect with some work still required on the carbs. I’ve had the dizzy rebuilt and matched to the engine spec but a good rolling road session is needed. The only decent run out she got this year was the CaRS at Santa pod where I managed to scrape a 18.2 second quarter. Given the engine problems I suppose this wasn’t too bad The plan now is to get it a little closer to the road, make a few tweeks to the cylinder head and get the motor running properly. then polybush the suspension and improve the pi55 poor brakes. This is unless a certain Mini gets in the way. PHEW! More Pics

Fabulous bit of retro rarity. About 10 years since I last saw one it was at a Mitsubishi Starion and Lancer turbo dealers in Cockerham village. It looked quite solid he also had an ex works Starion driven by Penti Arrikala and a Triumph 2500S estate with side pipes a Rover v8 in and woolfies on it. He probably sells evo's or something if hes still going. It was an old stone built barn towards Glasson dock.
