Greeting from sunny California. I found out about this site in the latest issue of PVW and figured I'd post up my 'retro-ride'. This is my '84 Audi Coupe GT turbo, it started life as a basic U.S. spec GT, but has found new life thanks to 6 years of modding it. Upgrades include 2.2 turbo MC1 motor (chipped to 12lbs boost), Quaife diff, Koni/Eibach coilovers, ASA AR1 17", Wilwood calipers w/Brembo rotors, Kamei X1 body kit, Recaro Trend seats, Euro H1/H4 headlights, Euro smoked taillights, late model dashboard, and several other tweaks. I hardly see any other CGTs on the road, and when I do they are nothing like mine. I hope you like it, I certainly do. J. Yes, there is actually an FMIC behind the grill (tight squeeze) How she looked when I bought her in '96, 3 years before the modding began.

Wow, that is arrow-straight and as cool as a mutha! Great car, love the seats too, what are those out of? Thanks for the props. The seats are out of the Recaro catalog BTW (I bought them new from Recaro a few years back). As I understand it, they are the same style Audi equipped the S4 2.7tt with. J.

Nice car! Really suits the red, and those seats look gorgeous. Are those vents in the front vent real? Welcome BTW! Yes, the vents are functional. The airbox is in the inner fender (with the bottom half removed) and it helped bring cool air into it. Plus I kinda liked the way it looked too.

No real 1/4 mile figures (never had it on the track). However it's dyno'd at 220 crank hp and only weighs around 2500ish lbs, so yeah it's pretty quick. It's really not a 0-60mph car, more of a 30-120mph car (it takes the turbo a second to spool fully). The CGT's here came with relatively short gearing so what it lacks in top end it makes up for in acceleration.

However it's dyno'd at 220 crank hp On an engine dyno or a 'calculated' figure from a wheel dyno? We all know that power-at-the-flywheel means very little...How much do you have at the wheels? That said, damn lovely car. I'll Have a Dialynx SWB one day...One day......... *n

Lovely looking car, bet thers not a speck of rust on it if its spent the majority of its life in the California sun either. (Just noticed the snowy picture, maybe i'm wrong lol)

In regards to the hp#'s of my car it's dyno'd at 185hp at the wheels.
The same setup I have has been dyno'd at 215-220 crank hp (by 2Bennett Audimotive who performed the swap) so that's the figure I've always gone by. But yeah, you do lose some power through the tranny. Accounting for a 15 - 20% loss the numbers are pretty accurate.
As to rust, yeah it's a CA car to be sure - which means no rust. The snow picture was from the year I bought her and took her up to the Sierra Nevada mountains to go snowboarding. After all the work I've done & had done I do not take her to the snow anymore. Fortunately I've now got an '86 Audi 4KCSQ for the inclement weather.

Just a few pic updates, I had my intake manifold, turbo inlet pipe, valve cover, timing belt cover, wastegate cap cerami-chrome finished. Also (not visible) had a OEM 2 piece exhaust manifold & K24 sport turbo installed. The cerami-chrome helps to keep the temps down under the hood (especially in the I'm and inlet pipe) the valve & timing covers are more decorative, but hey WTF?!
