That's what they look like when you buy them. It's guite simple to 'trim back' the 'curl' on the leading edge of the arch.
The fit of most of these arches seems to be quite poor and it takes a serious amount of effort to get them to fit right. Even now Chris is not 100% happy with his. I think he is planning on changing to standard Group 5s in the future. They tend to be a better fit and have more 'give' in them to aid fitting. Avonbar group 5s are supposed to be pretty good quality, but I don't think they do the euro group 5s.

www.speedgenie.co.uk/avonbar/ I've never used the Avonbar arches myself but I've heard good things about them. That said, all of these aftermarket arches are made from fibreglass and there will always be a certain amount of 'adjustment' required to make them fit. I've just had a quick look at their site and they do the euro style and the basic grp 5 style. They are not the cheapest supplier of these style of arches, but like I said, I've heard good things.

I've heard of grp 7s. Avonbar sell them, but I've never heard of grp 6. Unless you mean the so called group 5 'extra wide'. I think Avonbar sell them too.

RetroRovers, Cheers for the kind words fella , I wanted a yellow GT for years due to the guy who ran the local minispares shop who had a snapdragon yellow GT fitted with group 5s and 7x13s, never seen one since that looked so good! Kolberg, sorry man, I know I promised to put these pics up a lot sooner, but finally, here they are, check out my rust! Hope they help clarify positioning of the arches a little. Echoing what Asconadaz said, no, I'm not at all happy with the fit, and a set of regular group 5's will be making there way onto a yellow clubman near you soon! I'd say go for the best you can as cost for arches really does reflect on the quality of the product, I only paid 39 for mine, and boy do I know it! Oh and for no particular reason, a sneaky shot or two of the front mount radiator and Thundercat 650 fan (snarf).

Ayup fella! The 6x12s that I have fitted do unfortunately require cutting of the arches, seeing as you have an original panneled mk1, I have to agree it would be a shame to cut it about! You can get 5x12 deepdish superlites, and I am pretty certain these will fit without having to hack the body about! I think you can also get 5.5x12 deepdish minilites, but I'm not sure if they require bodymods or not. Cool Minis man! that mk1 is super-sweet! loving the wheels it currently has, are they D1s? Very nice!
