Well as the beast is back and better than ever i thought id do a new post;
The oily bits;
the suspension is currently 700lb front springs and 350lb rear springs, Spax adjustable dampers all round, rear is turreted (best mod ever), anti roll bar removed and strengthened front wishbones.
The Brakes are fully rebuilt with Ferodo Target pads/shoes and an dash mounted adjustable bias valve.
Wheels are Compomotove CX with Goodyear GT2 Tyres
The interior it totally stripped out and fitted with Corbeau Buckets, OMP harnesess. The car has a rear roll cage with diagonal which sits on 3mm load spreading plates. Ive also fitted a pod mounted rev counter and oil pressure gauge.
Alloy, foam filled petrol tank mounted in the boot, which is covered with a fibreglass hatch.
I rebuilt the engine an it was rebored from 1256 to a staggering 1295 (theres no replacement for displacement!), fitted with a Kent HCR2 cam, Stage 2 head. the bottom end is lightened and balanced with polished rods. Also features a high pressure oil pump. the inlet manifold is ported and the carb is a down draught Webber 34ICH. ive also fitted a Micro dynamics rev limiter as it just revs and revs. but it all gets a bit bouncy at 7500rpm! The exhaust system comprises of a Janspeed 4 branch manifold (DEI exhaust wrapped) and a single box system.
Fitted big rad with header tank and electric fan (well its hard to get a lot of cooling air in when your going sideways )
Future plans are fitting megasquirt mappable injection and ignition which will tie in nicely as my final year project at uni. I'm going to use this thread to keep you updated on how its going.
ps. big thanks to all the retro riders who convinced me not to burn it out on my drive during the rebuild when i lost the plot, its all worth it now!
