This is my Scimmie. It's one of the very last of the SE5 series. Although it is registered as Jan '76 (when the 6 series was available) it was made in Oct '75 (last month of production)
This is how she was about 2 years ago.
Since then I've done the following:
Fitted reupholstered leather XJS seats. Remote central locking & alarm. Electric windows and rear hatch release (removed external lock). New spots to front and fogs to rear.
And now for the engine bay:
Removed cooling system (they are prone to overheating) and installed larger capacity radiator and twin fans from Grannie Scorpio.
Electronic ignition. Electric fuel pump (Jag) with Cossie inertia switch. Fuel pressure regulator (MG Maestro Turbo). Remote oil filter with thermostat to new oil cooler (Land Rover).
All the above work as the preliminaries for fitting a SUPERCHARGER!
It's an Eaton M65 that is off the Mercs SLK/CLK.
The original DGAS twin choke webber is not up to forced induction so I've had to make a new plenum and fit modified twin 1 3/4" SU HIF 44s (as the MG turbos) in a set up modelled on the Rover V8s. I've added an uprated alternator (Isuzu) to handle the extra electrics, which has a combined vacuum pump to feed the brake servo - I know you get a vacuum when the foot is off the gas but what happens if the throttle gets stuck?
Since the pics were taken I've fitted tubular manifolds and fitted a drive pulley for the blower, which I will fit in the area of the present coil position.
I still have to fit the intercooler and pipe up the carbs - the trumpets are only temporary at the moment - Fit some form of power bulge on the bonnet, the carbs are poking thro' at the moment - fit a stainless tank with fuel return (from the pressure reg.) as the existing one hasn't got one. THEN FOR THE BLOWER ITSELF!
All the work has been done on a "rolling mod." so that I can still use her as and when.
I hope y'all like her.
