My first ever Ford! 1.6 Ghia with 5-speed box (most early Scrotes came with 4-speeders)
Purchased from eBay for the frankly ludicrous sum of £50. Really really original, 2 elderly owners from new, maintained regardless of cost. Even a couple of months tax + test on it!
Driving back from Birmingham the engine inhaled half of its oil and spat what it couldn't swallow all over the red hot exhaust manifold! Scary stuff to see smoke billowing from the engine bay with no fire extinguisher!
But, a quick clean up of the rocker cover and breather assembly and everything's hunky-dory!
Plans so far include lowering (of course), paint the steel wheels black and polish up the chrome trim-rings, roof rack mit oil barrel on top. Also got a Weber DGAV carb lined up to replace the biddy-spec VV one. That gives an extra 20 horses to get it up to XR3 standards.
Fitted an XR3 steering wheel in place of the standard bus wheel.
The back arches are a bit crusty, but nothing terrible. Also could do with sorting out a drivers door... but that's if I can be arsed!
