My current crop of cars (well the slightly interesting ones) Mazda Rx-7 Mk3 198412a rotary engine, currently being converted to EFI. Running mostly standard bits but with uprated dampers, anti roll bars and some nice rims just for looks (got to have a little bling) it also had the mirrors swapped over to US spec ones. Mazda 323 - FA4TS 1979The latest aquisition and in the very early stages of becoming an rx323. parts collected so far are a set of 13x6 globes (aussie made wheels), 323 challenge sump guard and strut brace, estate front ARB and a brand new rx3 front x member. [glow=red,2,300]on the look out for 1st generation series 2 struts if anyone knows of some for sale. [/glow] Mazda 323 - BG Gti - 1991 Rally hack not retro ... bog standard engine etc. (150K miles on the drivetrain) in the standard car class. But running a full gearbox and engine guard, uprated dampers, 6 point cage, bucket seats , 4 points and a cone filter for a little induction noise.

The RX323 has some serious potential. Nicer alternative to a Starlet...
Can't wait to see the wheels!

Wasn't that RX323 on the bay a while back? I think I posted it in one of my threads....

nice set of cars mate. Always fancied an rx7 but cant afford a decent one and have always been put off buying a cheap one as I have never worked on a rotary before and don't fancy an engine rebuild as the first job I did ;D
Whats the rally hack fwd or 4wd

Thanks for the kind comments In answer to the questions The Rally car is a 1991 BG Gti so fwd, they go really well and cost peanuts. It cost me more for the cage than for the car ! (wouldn't rally without one) Yes the 323 came from Ebay ... should have lots of potenital to be a quick car once the engines swapped ... I'm sorting out the scary suspension first ! (coilovers, camber plates to sort the different KPI on the rx7 struts and adjustable shocks all round) erm I have some photos of the wheels somewhere ... just need to find some 205/60R13's to stick on them now (probably handle better on 185's but I like the look of the 205's so I'm going to compramise )

not a clue about the 929's but they will be based around the same sort of parts as all the other Mazda's
The Ausrotary.com site is a good resource for all things oldschool and Mazda, Richard over on Mazdarotaryclub.com seems to know a fair bit too.

Brilliant! Another lover of old Mazdas. Know any good parts suppliers? I have a 1975 929 coupé and a 1986 929 wagon.

I think KPI is the right term, basically the 323 strut sits near vertical in the car, whereas the rx7 strut sits at more of angle. The result of this when you bolt an rx7 strut into the 323 is positive camber so hence the adjustable strut tops.

sanded down and painted the wheels last night ( I remember now, why I hate painting things) hopefully they will last more than 5 minutes before the paint comes off noticed a slight problem with the alloys too ... one of them is a different offset to the other 3 ... I have 3 that say 13x6JJx19P and one that says 13x6JJx23P. I think the wheels are just about ready for some tyres now ! These photos are about as close as I want to post of my 'handy' work with a paint can Ordered some wheel studs and nuts as well + A single 5mm spacer ... will machine 1mm off it. I'll probably pin it to the wheel as well to stop it going adrift or being forgotten I doubt 4mm would make much difference on the rear axle anyway ... the panhard rod would allow that much lateral movement over a short travel

and a little hint of what is to be done on the rx7 ... they are just sat on the engine in the photo. Due to space problems on a rhd car they are now being fitted in a downdraught style ... it should at least sound quick one its done. (over at Hayward rotary for exhaust, fitting and tuning ... I modded the T/B's earlier this year)
