1979 MG Midget 1500
Been off the road a while – the clutch self-destucted, taking the flywheel face with it, and I decided a few other bits needed sorting at the same time…
Body & Interior
Bare metal respray, including 4 new wings, 2 sills, a front panel and a few repair sections!
Running on Minilite replicas and 175/70 13” tyres.
Interior changed from tan to black, with 13” Mountney wheel, and absolutely no ‘ICE’ ballast
Engine & drivetrain
Pete Burgess ‘stage 2’ engine, with modded SU’s, K&N, Fast Road 89 cam, fully balanced bottom end, Janspeed 4 branch and system, 13 row oil cooler, electric fan. Putting out 90bhp@wheels on RR (from 65bhp@flywheel standard! ;D ).
Recon ‘box fitted with engine. New clutch (old one had springs part company from clutch plate) and recon propshaft just fitted. Rebuilt axle on it’s second diff and third halfshaft…
Front Suspension
Has Frontline telescopic damper conversion (with Koni’s). Springs are 330lb/-2”. 3/4” anti-roll bar. Poly bushes.
Rear Suspension
Leaf springs are standard rate/-1.5”(ish), nylon shackle bushes, uprated lever dampers, anti-tramp bars.
Brakes
Drilled discs, Mintex pads, braided hose fr & rr, standard rear drum setup. Fronts totally inadequate for available power
